I don't see why anyone would be worried. "I'm not panicking" - seriously? It's the second match against a good team. Wisconsin can't not make the tournament - which should take a lot of worry out of the equation. And, they'll have their chances when they get there. And since this isn't conference play, it was no affect on their ability to win the conference.

Wait, what? It's the second match of the year, and you're talking about the coach that just won the national championship. What would it take to get a little leeway from you? 4 championships in a row Russ Rose style? Surely Sheffield has earned a smidgen of a benefit of the doubt, hasn't he? Oh baby, you must not know me... just because you win NT doesn't mean miss diva won't question you... mostly tongue and cheek. Your team is missing 20 serves .... how about one of your 8 DS's on your bench sub in and put the ball in? How about blocking adjustments and maybe switches when the same attacker on the opposite side keeps scoring... -- How about Franklin hitting behind the middle in SR to create some variance.... honey, I can go on and on.... No, I'm only becoming acquainted, lol. But quickly! I'm becoming acquainted quickly.

Sheffield needs to stop playing the setter political game and feel he needs EOP with the setters... He doesn't owe Ashburn anything; sorry, obviously my thoughts.
MJ is the setter, and this young squad needs to develop floor chemistry with rhythm -- ESPECIALLY THE F'ING MIDDLES! WTF Was that!?

Sheff post-match
Stats were pretty close. Didn't play well at end of a couple sets. Franklin was really good. 22 kills on 49 swings and 3 errors. Just gave up too many points. 51 errors, very similar to Maryland. Left even more on the floor. They were happier about it being an ugly match. That's something to learn from. Eager to get back to practice gym. Never got into rhythm with serves. No rhythm with offense. OOS attacking from lefts was great. Smrek - probably not something she will write home about. It's about managing these nights. Pressed on higher balls. Others also pressed. Expects everyone will get better with that with experience.

I am one of the few people who picked Baylor in five and I did because I thought our passing would be poor. I never would have imagined the game that Smrek had though. Got a lot to work on in the oncoming weeks.

I was a professional computer programmer for 25 years (firmware engineer) and we used to have a saying when we were trying to diagnose a bug: the test was a success, the premise failed.
Meaning even when an experiment fails, you still learn things from it.
I'm not sure any "premise failed" today, but the coaches and players surely learned some things today.

I think he's trying to make use of his enormous attacking potential in the squad, by getting as many arms on the floor as possible. He probably thinks neither of his setters are Carlini or Hilley level, so it makes sense. That comes at a price. Maybe the setters could be better if one takes over. There is nothing like game time to suggest which setter is handling the pressure better.

McGuyre said that serving and blocking were the early strengths of this Baylor squad and would cause some frustrations for other teams. It certainly didn’t look that way last night but definitely showed up more today. Serving still needs to be cleaned up because Baylor was also very high error from behind the line, but the serves that were in were competitive.

Is it me, or is Sheff always sick, or coughing, or weezing, or eyes runny -- he was diplomatic in match assessment - they frankly played like %*$#.

I’m honestly pretty glad this happened so early in the season; a lot to learn from this weekend. Congrats to Baylor.

There are, I think, two who I have so blocked... I can't imagine what someone would have to do to get me to block them. I honestly don't care enough what anyone has to say on here for it to bother me at all. This is entertainment, and I find something entertaining about pretty much everyone. There are subjects that don't interest me, and conversations, but individual posters? But I do get what you're saying, and I appreciate the guidance.

Serving still needs to be cleaned up because Baylor was also very high error from behind the line, but the serves that were in were competitive. I also saw a few moon balls that Wisconsin just slammed into the floor in system. That's one of my retorts to people who focus on high service errors. Yes, service errors can be bad. But if the opponent is getting sideouts every time because the serves aren't putting any pressure whatsoever, that's just as much of an issue. Errors don't count for more points against you than an in system kill. But heck, if I'm focusing on a few lollipop serves I saw, I'm completely missing the bigger picture. A lot of heart and grit, and a lot of emerging talent. Averi Carlson's campaign for Big 12 FOY and NFOY gets a big boost!
