UNI was up 18-16... and then just collapsed.

they called a lift on that?? wow it really is called differently region-to-region Important that this is the region of the Final Four. I think that was a huge reason Logan didn't throw much at all against OSU. It's just called so much more tightly in the midwest.

Important that this is the region of the Final Four. I think that was a huge reason Logan didn't throw much at all against OSU. It's just called so much more tightly in the midwest. I would say that's a subjective view. Reading the thread there were plenty of complaints against both Eggleston and O'Neal. She's never thrown THAT much. She does it when she feels like she can beat the block with the notorious "power tip" rather than utilizing a big swing. It's these power tips - which she certainly used against OSU and wasn't called for them - that send people into a frenzy. Which I don't blame them. It's their view on how volleyball should be called. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and this one is a particularly strongly held view. Talk to men's college basketball fans about how charges are called, with Jay Bilas as their chief spokesperson. I am sympathetic to people holding strong views, whether I agree or disagree. My problem is that if something is never called - and it isn't with Eggleston, regardless of how many times you feel like she does it or not - then it sure makes it tough and seem very arbitrary when it's called 2/3rds of the way through an Elite Eight match for the very first time. There's a big part of me that's glad it was called in this tournament. It was called against SKT in the Minnesota match on a dump, which I REALLY never see. I just want to see more consistency, and if it's going to be called set a tone early.

I’m wondering if we will see a good side/bad side effect. This AM seemed to show that.
Kalyah was cramping at one point. That’s dangerous with no real back-up.

Small gym with windows and very different sightlines behind the server, there could very well be a good /bad side effect, and that effect could be entirely different whether you play in the morning, the afternoon or the evening.

i love how coach keller plays his players all 6 rotations. women's volleyball needs to ditch the DS culture You'd need to reduce the amount of substitutions. That would do it. The problem is there's a different kind of emphasis for women's volleyball. Many people want to see it oriented towards developing players for international play. The emphasis, however, is on giving opportunities for skilled players who don't have an ideal height. More substitutions means more people playing which means more opportunities, and more specialties, which means bad for international player development. The key thing to me is if you're a pin hitter on the left or right, you'd better be careful where you go. Better in my opinion to go somewhere you get chances in the back court than to go to one of the super powers with amazing everything but you're constrained to 3 or 4 rotations for competitive purposes. That said, Nebraska has certainly figured it out, and it's not like they're shirking in DS development or deployment. The beach thing they have going helps, but it's also what their culture is about, too. Hence the u19 lists read like a future Nebraska roster.
