USC will not even make the tournament. It's a shame really, all those top 10-20 recruits gone to waste. In what universe does losing at #17 and neutral court to #16 the second week of pre-conference play keep you out of the tournament? with the way they lost. somebody who has seen them play can probably chime on. Looking at the stats and comments it looks like defense, passing, blocking remains to be an issue. Going 0-2 vs Hawaii next would be disastrous though and UH has one of the best home court advantages out there.

I watch a loooot of vball, and while I think there will be some close sets, I suspect SC will come out on top of both of those matches.

There is literally no backup setter available. Lol. I miss Lazaro. No fight in USC today. Lazaro shining at Louisville I was thinking about that earlier. Lazaro is currently setting one of the best teams in the country while watching her old team (which she was benched on) deeply struggle.

Miller and Williams weren’t as good as they have been the rest of the season either. Wilson is a bright spot. Tuaniga has some work to do on her decision-making. The littles came in and did OK. So, the 6-ro experiment might fizzle soon, at least for one of Weske or Fields. And Keller needs to avoid pulling a Crouch and trying to force an offense that doesn’t suit his athletes.

Lazaro is currently setting one of the best teams in the country while watching her old team (which she was benched on) deeply struggle. I think most USC fans are happy for Lazaro doing well at Louisville. Last season Lazaro wasn't the problem but she wouldn't have been the solution (no setter would have been with that passing corp.). Again passing and defense seem to be the problem with USC this season. Personally I'd like to see Fields as a 6-ro OPP as that is her future in pros. I highly doubt she can become a successful passer/hitter at the intl level. For USC, a compromise would be Fields passing part-time and then hidden in some of the backrow rotations while hitting. No need to keep Weske in the back court. She ain't it.

I'll just put this bluntly. Fields being pulled from 3 back row rotations will lead to locker room problems. Period. The end. I love love love Fields as an attacker. Fierce. Athletic. Heavy arm. When she's on it feels like she's virtually unstoppable. Put Texas on her back and virtually carried the whole team in some tournament matches. Franky, she's terrific as a pin blocker, too. But she will not be happy if she's not being given the chance to play 6 rotations. Especially after transferring from Texas in the first place. And she is not a quiet person, for good or bad. You don't have to wonder how she feels about things, that's for sure.

she's always streaky. I don't think that'll change. It is what it is. She also has a rep for disruptive behavior in the locker room. Hopefully she has grown out of that phase. At Minnesota??? Or Penn State 👀

Some of Keller’s choices appear to be as whacked as Crouch’s were. The difference is Keller’s personality and demeanor will go a lot further with the players (and fans).

My take (as a UNI fan): after coming off their worst season in program history, the Panthers have made some improvements, but aren't quite back up to the level where they can compete with top 25 teams. (pretty much what I expected going into this weekend).
