Brae is a good blocker, but I thought it was interesting that they put in DeGoede as a blocking specialist to seal the match. To me it just looked like spot duty to close out the set, which they ended up doing a poor job of and Braelyn came back in anyway yeah, maybe just to give the opposing OH something extra to think about too ... at just having a taller blocker in front of her.

Might see it more because De Goede’s blocking form did look pretty good. I think she’s still pretty being offensively though.

Akana's front-row line from last night: H% .167; BS 0; BA 1; Digs 3; TP 4.5 Lang's line: H% .667; BS 0; BA 3; TP 6.5 When the setter outperforms the Oppo on the blocking and attacking lines, and it's starting to look like it could become a thing, the only silver lining is at least the setter is producing. You can't really compare Lang's and Akana's hitting % because most if not all of Lang's attacks are on dumps where she has no block on her, while Akana has a double block on her. Akana just has to play tool city and be smart with her swings and use the block in front of her.

But, the H% speaks to something; just how aware Lang is of her opportunities and her ability to convert. That something that's missing from Oppo in the current lineup.

Agreed. Put me in the 'how long is the leash' camp with Akana. There are other lineup options. If this is the best one and Akana doesn't improve, other teams will adjust to take advantage, and it will happen quickly. And the pressure for others to pick up the slack in all other positions and parts of the game, will be that much greater.

Tiff's hitting with power last night. TS Oh's was hitting over Akana's blocking. Amber and Caylen carried the team to victory last night. Did you all see UH DS and Caylen's back court defense?

Not sure who all noticed this but this quickness in which Hawaii made adjustments to Texas State was great to see. Blocking/touching the slide from their Oppo, picking up the setter dumps, etc.
That’s a sign of a team that is implementing a game plan and getting less frazzled when things don’t go their way. I want to see Tiffany get more sets tonight and see how much that translates to everyone else being more effective.

Does anyone know where to find a replay of the game? Your best bet is getting an ESPN+ account, YouTube replays are getting targeted and removed this season it seems

Texas State coach got tense every time Kate set Amber. Hawaii’s middles are legit, but the Bows need to pass well for that option to be fluid. Amber especially, is a beast at the net. ..and Lang needs to utilize them more as decoys as well. I remember that one set where the TS middle went up with Igiede and Lang set it to Wagoner and she hammered it.
