UK notes: - The team needs to go back to the drawing board re: passing formations. Continuing to pass with 2 after a 4-point service run (or something like that) is baffling. Lamb passing balls while she's in the front row is baffling. Serve-pass is such a staple of UK volleyball and I feel like UK has the pieces to put together something at least somewhat better than what we saw tonight. - Grome. What was up with your location tonight... I really think Grome struggles with what Lilley struggled with at times during her career: trying to do too much. If you're OOS and you can't get to the ball, maybe don't try a quick set to your LS. Or a D ball. Or a ball that looks like it's going to both the middle and LS. Maybe her worst match I've watched. Just very bad. - Positives: Rutherford is the real deal. Hell yeah. Goetzinger deserves as much praise as anyone this year and Rollins' offense seems like it's here to stay (when she isn't getting set 8 times in a row in transition). UK looked like the better team tonight for most of the match, which is a plus I guess. I think this team has top 4 potential, but Grome has to play cleaner, and Skinner/Anders need to work their back row magic. If they don't, I think we'll see more unwatchable matches like this one. you’re not gonna mention the Grome service errors 😭 I can forgive a setter for bad serving more easily than bad setting.

you never know she could drop a quick 28 while hitting 400 again. Or eek out 9 on .103….. She did lead the team in attempts so😉 Claiming an “I called it” on this one. Rollins played well. Grome’s sets to her were bad.

"They just wanted it more" Sure, because a former national champ doesn't want to beat the reigning one. I know, it's just athlete speak. Some survivor bias going on every time someone says that.

Robinson postmatch (who boots Sheff off the post match interview) They just wanted it more Really hard to score Key is to stay mentally tough Was a really fun game, two really good teams. Loved the challenge. Sheff Serve pass game was pretty good from the get go. Had them out of system a lot, led to blocks. Serve was very good, in location in particular. They haven't been that good at it. Spent a lot of time in practice. Went with the float because of Beavin. Liz Gregorski did a great job. Early on had a really hard time locating sets. Weren't getting good swings Got better as the match went on MJ had a really rough time physically this morning - didn't do practice. Was first time in gym. Izzy was forcing it early. But got better. Had a terrible time blocking Rutherford and Tealer. Figured out Tealer in the second, but Rutherfod as a lefty was harder. They don't see lefties in their gym. They found other ways to win when other some things weren't working. Sheffield got on them pretty early. Took it as a positive that they stayed gritty and figured out a way. This explains a thing or two.

I was unable to watch any of the match just listen.
Besides Robinson who were the standouts for the Badgers. Gülce sounded like she had a mostly good game. (several aces and some other standout play in the back)
Gregorski had some nice serves I recall from radio broadcast.
Sounds like Jade just wasn't enough of an offensive presence to remain in rotation after Sets 1 and part of the 2nd?

She had a couple of huge out of system kills down the stretch in the second set. Otherwise, more of a team win. Serving and blocking were key.

I think maybe the Smrek for Demps substitution was to get a bigger block in front of Rollins. She was having a big night early and was very much slowed down later. How much of that was Smrek, I'm not sure. But it was "coincidental".

Izzy's sets were pretty decent. Need more middle action and she was going there.

I think my favorite thing about this match is that they were down in each set, to Kentucky in their home gym, and still got the sweep.

"They just wanted it more" Sure, because a former national champ doesn't want to beat the reigning one. I know, it's just athlete speak. Some survivor bias going on every time someone says that. It was a gritty Wisconsin performance. Down in each set and came back. Was UK less gritty? I wouldn't claim that. But you absolutely want your athletes believing that they won because of their grittiness, and if Robinson believes it, why wouldn't she say it in an interview? Take it with a grain of salt.
