You’re not wrong, but we can hope and dream. I can think of more legit spoiler teams at this point in the season (I know early) than I usually can, so we’ll just keep manifesting nah just light your candles all season long and they will deliver. they came through last night. why not again ? My bath and body budget is about to be through the roof! 🕯 Texas🕯 San Diego 🕯 Florida 🕯 Luper and the rest of those Bruins who love to disappoint me. 🕯 Louisville/GT//Pitt I don’t discriminate 🕯 anyone from the Big 12

Where is the site you pull these stats from? Thanks! Marquette she pulled 6 rotation duty when subbing for Franklin so its no surprise she had note opportunities there. It's not public info. It's from volleymetrics, the service the schools and teams pay for to stat things like passing, rotational side out percentages, dig-transition success, blocking efficiency etc. Does it break it down into 1st, 2nd, or 3rd contact? I assume Demps has not had any successful 3rd contacts. 😀 And is a good pass only when it hits the 'setter zone'? Do they have any other levels then just good or 'bad'?

Passing less than 50% good passes is not where it's at. I've heard 60% as the number you want to be above to be respectable. There are a lot of qualities you can convince me that Demps has - great backrow hitter, fearless, rises to the occasion, versatile. Good passer is not on that list.

I don't really know what you mean by that first question. And yes, the passes are broken down on film into 0 (ace) 1 (poor) 2 (ok) 3 (good) 4 (great/perfect). Anything that's a 3 or 4 is considered a good/positive pass.

Also, passing is by definition first contact after serve. First contact after an attempted kill by the other team would be a dig (assuming it was successful).

Do I always correct people when they make mis-statements? Yes. That sounds like an exhausting life.

jwvolley I edited that part of the reply out soon after because I realized it was unclassy (it shouldn't have taken me that long). My apologies - and no, it was not toward you.

So it would have been helpful to also list passes that were at the 2 level as others have maintained is that Demps was dreadful at passing.

So it would have been helpful to also list passes that were at the 2 level as others have maintained is that Demps was dreadful at passing. You're going to win this argument by attrition at this rate. But okay, one more crack at this. First of all, Sheffield's numbers that he and/or his staff compile are actually based on a 3 point scale: ace, poor, good, great/perfect is I believe the general descriptors. He said all his main passers are passing above a 2.0 before last night (that might have changed!) which, if you do the math, means that they would have to have at least 50% good or better passes (in fact, having 50% of your passes at a 1 (poor) and 50% at a 3 (great/perfect) would be the only way to do this with only 50% good or better passes. "Clearly", Jade's numbers are below that since she is passing below 50% good passes (I say "clearly" because UW compiles their own numbers, and Sheff might rate things differently - this is why percentage of passes that are good or better is still often used). To be honest, Sheff's statement surprised me - my eye-test had Franklin passing at below a 2.0. I think Orzol is our most consistent passer (highest percentage good or perfect) while GG has the highest percentage of perfect passes (but shanks too many for a libero, at least right now). But there's a reason he brought Franklin in as a "DS" for Demps in the fourth set, and that reason was 100% about passing.

Its time to put Wrobel and Devyn in as the OHs. Michael Keaton in Batman voice, "You wanna get nuts! Come on! Lets get nuts!"
