Keys to a Turnaround in no particular order
Rotation 1 on defense is a challenge. A good pass is a must. Having Crowl, a left handed OPP, on the left for this rotation is way too awkward. If the pass could be offset just in front of the 3 meter line Shaff could put up what is essentially a D ball for Wenaas or a gap set to Husemann. Late in the first set vs Stanford a good pass led to an awful middle connection that Husemann could not drive down > Stanford transition kill. I would think that a pipe to Landfair could work too. Just putting the ball in play across the net to a good opponent doesn't cut it. STRIVE FOR A FBSO IN RO1
RAMP UP PASSING GRADES AND GET THE TEAM SIDEOUT % BACK ABOVE 60%. Shaff has converted two handfuls of overpasses into winning jousts, blocks, and outright kills. Why does this keep happening?
Pick up the pace on float serves. If they have a tendency to be long then release from 2' behind the back line. Whatever...no more floats into the net.
Rather than frustrate the left pins with sets that are repeatedly blocked or blocked enough to prevent a kill, move the set location closer to the edge or closer to the middle to give the hitters a tool or better angle. It seemed like attack confidence withered and didn't return last Saturday.
Make their left pin beat you cross-court. Focus on covering the tip.
Keep smiling, have fun, and find the flow.

I’d be curious to see what kind of numbers Wenaas could put up playing opposite. Kilkelly playing middle back for Hanson. I also wouldn’t mind seeing Landfair get some more passing responsibility. I don’t have passing stats, but from the eye test it feels like she’s been the most consistent receiver. Small sample size since she gets hidden, but idk, she’s passed some dimes that have made me impressed with that improvement in her game.

Hey, BTN, this would have been a good live event to televise, rather than going for Nebraska nostalgia from they were good and showing a football game from 1971.

I predict Minnesota takes out some frustration on Pepperdine. Minny needs to stay calm and collected. Rage can be a bad thing ...
