Sooooooo annoying when interesting matchups like this don't get even a raw live stream because the host institution can't be bothered. COACHES: MAKE THIS A REQUIREMENT IN YOUR CONTRACT BEFORE AGREEING TO THE TOURNAMENT

3 SA 13 SE
That service execution isn’t going to cut it when Ohio State plays better opponents.
Whatever’s going on with Rader, they realllly need her back. Talk about the heart and soul of the offense!

Talk about the heart and soul of the offense! Why are those two statistics even paired? Who cares what the ratio of aces to errors is? I want to know what the ratio of errors to out of system passes is, and how productive service rotations are overall. It’s a non sensical pairing. and I hate it that VT posters parrot this bulls*t like it has any relevance whatsoever. I know the problem. The problem is we’re not given stats that are actually relevant, so we’re forced to repeat this pablum like monkeys slung into space in a space capsule.

We are discussing volleyball statistics here, not world hunger. Take a breath and relax. Secondly, ace numbers are directly positively correlated with out of system service pressure. With no stream available, this is all we have to evaluate. Based on Ohio State’s service struggles this year, it’s not a stretch to say those struggles continued today. It simply has to improve. It is not anywhere near a tell all ratio, but 3:13 does tell a story.

With no stream available, this is all we have to evaluate. Based on Ohio State’s service struggles this year, it’s not a stretch to say those struggles continued today. It simply has to improve. It is not anywhere near a tell all ratio, but 3:13 does tell a story. It doesn’t tell a story. You know what tells a story? 3-0 against a quality opponent. There’s no side out stats shown on sidearm, so I can’t even accurately figure out how often Ohio State scored on their serves, particularly in the first two sets. For all I know they scored on one serve and the rest of the points came from siding out Tennessee every serve. That’s certainly not the case, but if it was then talking about service errors would be dumb, because no one was scoring anything off serves, so frankly service errors would be good, because at least it’s an indication to address the real problem, which is serves weren’t being effective at helping the team score points. And that’s why aces don’t actually matter. How many aces a team serves is immaterial compared to how many points the team scores off its serves. Who cares whether it’s from an ace or not? Did someone make an ace count an extra point and didn’t tell me? I do think aces can be an indicator of the server having an impressive serve that’s difficult for opponents to handle. It’s just that there are so often more effective servers that don’t pile up the aces, but are consistently allowing their team to score points. But since the box score doesn’t give us any of those tools to accurately measure, none of it has the opportunity to enter into the conversation. But it doesn’t mean we all need to be slack jaws pretending like the ace to error ratio is a good indicator of a winning approach, just because that’s all us peasants are granted to work with.
