URI's mascot is a Ram, which represents the school's agricultural history.
It was originally founded as the Estates Agricultural Experiment Station and School in 1888 and became the Rhode Island College of Agriculture and the Mechanic Arts in 1892.

The ram was adopted as the mascot in 1923. Originally known as the "Battering Ram," it became "Ramses" in 1929.
In 1942 it was re-christened with its current name, "Rhody."



Live rams were housed on campus until the 1960s.

25-16 UW. Badgers hit 440. Got 7 aces. Rhode Island just cannot figure out GGs serve.

Good result, but still really really dicey in serve receive. Orzol has been doing great when she gets a pass. I wonder if Sheff is thinking about pulling a Bates with her, at least until Bramschreiber comes back.

Still hesitating and not communicating on defense, either. I can count at least two instances when the ball hit the floor because of that, including one where Izzy really should’ve just shoved her middle out of the way.

Badgers have to get their timing right on these back row attacks. I noticed them going up too early on Florida as well.
