You do know it was Stucky that failed to bury that overpass. I thought they were referring to the one on like the second point of the match. That second one was a mess, it was an overpass on our part, Stucky went up to try to set it while Gabbi tried to block the other side from attacking the overpass. Stucky called on a back row block. Idk There was that one, an overpass Stucky got blocked on and an overpass Essix went into the net on.  |

Gators' blocking and floor defense vastly different from yesterday. Already with 5 blocks and 15 digs. Still feel like we should be winning by more than 5 points in a set though, but our passing has just not been good.

Idk Got it. Missed the first four points. Apologies. And yes, Essex needs to improve, but I’d argue our entire front row needs work at burying overpasses. Many missed points so far this season. Yes I was referring to the one where Essix hit the net after awkwardly hitting the overpass haha 😊 I haven’t really noticed anyone else on the team struggle with overpasses quite as much as her. She has gotten better, but it is still surprising to me that someone starting for a major division 1 program would struggle with this to begin with. Stucky is usually pretty dominant at the net, I don’t find myself worried “is this going to be a point or not for Florida” when she goes up on an overpass lol. |

Okay also.... I know this isn't pro ball, but why don't our middle back defenders stay deeper/closer to the end line? The amount of balls that go off our block and over middle back's head because they're too far up...

As a former OH where it was drilled into me to stay deep when playing middle back defense, I’ve wondered this too. The only thing I can think of is maybe they’re hoping any touches off the block will cut the ball trajectory and middle back can cover that. But we all know it’s easier to move forward quickly than it is to backpedal to get to a ball. So I’m back to wondering why 😃 |
