Stopped at McCools after the match for celebration beers and just got home. Really liking the new plan with interchangeable defensive specialists. It will be fun watching Houghton, Mickelson, Wilson, and Morin team with Bays to protect the back row as the season rolls on. And they all can serve! Crenshaw will be another option when she comes back from injury. Cook has way more defensive options than in past years. Expect him to use them well.
When all is said and done, a lot more is said than done.
"Outstanding execution from our group from start to finish," said Head Coach Keegan Cook. "It was a great environment, and I liked the message that it sends to the rest of the conference that we're here to compete again, despite what people think we may or may not be at this point."
I need one of those EAS type alerts on my phone for when alwayslearning is back from the match.
Thanks for the compliment, tomclen. As it turns out, I'm on Lopez Island and I was only able to catch the latter part of the third set. I do have it recorded, however, so hopefully I'll get to watch what I missed today and maybe provide a few comments later on. I'm sorry I missed the match -- sounds like a fun one with a great crowd.
I've found over the years that there really is no substitute to seeing a match in person from a good vantage point. I love my big screen TV but you just see so much more and you can just concentrate on what you want to see when you are there in person. Hopefully I won't be missing too many more UW home games this season.
