Hmm. Did someone just call your underachieving team the Teddy Bears, and you needed to strike back? 🧐 If anyone called them that, it was probably me! I just have really high hopes/expectations for this Pepperdine team and today was such a messy showing. I felt like they could've taken this one. I agree that they blew some good chances. Also, it was pointed out to me that they challenged the block touch at the end of set 3, when they should have challenged the in and out call, which they did not. The ball was clearly in, but the pendulum swung to BYU, Zelaya doubled the next contact, and the wheels came off...if Waves have wheels.

Yeah, unfortunately Coach Wong was convinced by the players it was touched and he should've went with in/out. A lot of missed chances. Hope they make a big comeback the rest of the way.

Does this look like good company to you? Fastest to 200 Wins in D1 History Games 1. Heather Olmstead 225 BYU 2. Dave Shoji 236 Hawaii 3. Terry Pettit 238 Nebraska 4. Don Shaw 244 Stanford 5. Russ Rose 244 Penn St I'll give you Shoji, but did Rose, Shaw, and Pettit compete in cupcake leagues? :tape: Rose did it in the A-10 . . . .

Also, BYU really shut down Meg Brown, who is typically a fantastic weapon for Pepp. She had 3 aces and 4 blocks, but hit negative.

BYU gets their first ranked win over a good Pepperdine team.
