This one went to 5… Indiana with the edge. Ugh.

Indiana relied on their foreign contingent. The Canadian sophomore Mady Saris hit one of the outsides. She has a powerful arm. She was probably the difference maker with her serves and her kills. The Spanish frosh Candela Alonso-Corcelles hit the other outside. She is 6'2" but did not seem to have an impact in the game. The Turkish frosh Melisa Ilter played right side. She swings left handed and at 6'4" provides some height.
I like their setter Camryn Haworth. She hits the ball hard when the ball is on the net and has a jump spin serve. The Puerto Rican libero Paula Cerame had a real powerful jump spin that had the crowd buzzing, but she rarely got it in and went to a jump float after the second set.
Middle Morgan Geddes can really make that ball bounce when she hits an overset.
Maryland struggled with their passing and made too many mistakes just hitting the ball out or into the net. I do think Rainelle Jones has improved her arm swing. She is hitting the ball much harder than last year.
Laila Ivey really struggled with her passing, sending balls over the net to be rocketed right back at them. She was eventually replaced by Gem Grimshaw in the second set, who is not nearly as explosive as Laila, but at least she can pass. I think Laila had to have a passer rating less than a 1 after she was replaced.
Last year the Terps played small in the middle, except for Jones. Now they have 6'5" redshirt junior Anastasia Russ, who can really hammer the ball when it hits the floor. She also has a long reach that rejected a number of tips.
Wasn't quite as impressed with the Terps defense as last year. They also passed or shanked a number of serves that looked to be on their way out.
