Davis wasn't any good tonight (she was good in the 1st set) and everyone else was great. Go figure. No idea what to expect - I would say it helps when you don't have to rely on the same 1 or 2 players each match. Megan Wilson is a heck of player for Oklahoma. For sure. I like OU as a young team. But they're still young. You can tell they don't let go of the previous point real well. I really like Turner. She doesn't get much notice, but I feel like she's for sure one of the better setters in the Big 12. Turner is outstanding with her floor defense and her attacking. She is very good with backsets - and is quick around the court. Would love for her to be able to set for backrow attacks. Overall, I think she is a very good setter. Oklahoma's serve receive was very bad last night. I don't know if this was just a bad night or Kansas served very well. I suspect that Oklahoma can be rather inconsistent on serve receive - but this was the first time I got to watch them play.

I watched about 5 minutes of the Baylor - Iowa State game (My wife left the room, so I switched over - otherwise VB is banned from our TV). The Baylor libero received serve 3 times - and each pass was dead on perfect. Low pass right on Carlson's head. The serves didn't look particularly hard and the sample size of what I watched was very small - but she lived up to the advanced billing on her passing. You can run such a fast paced offense with that.

After watching the Texas-OU match and Kansas-Ou match I would say it’s both. OU is talented but very young and their passing is sporadic and usually breaks down about half way through the sets.
Texas had 4 aces and two over passes in set 3. Kansas served pretty tuff and forced OU to take a lot of OOS swings into a pre-formed double block. OU hung with both teams usually through the first half but then got buried in the second half of the sets.

Her first contact in general allows Baylor to run the middle as much as they can. Baylor could have this core passing group for the next two years, though the freshman DS’s, who were both OHs in club, have some growing to still do.

Basic stats on the projected starters for Kansas tomorrow:
S: Camryn Turner: 9.57 a/s 2.68 d/s 0.72 b/s OH: Caroline Bien: 2.75 k/s .172 2.38 d/s 0.32 b/s OH: Ayah Elnady: 3.04 k/s .311 1.32 d/s 0.46 b/s MB: Rachel Langs: 1.80 k/s .413 1.22 b/s MB: Lauren Dooley: 1.62 k/s .399 1.17 b/s RS: London Davis: 2.45 k/s .394 0.59 b/s L: Kennedy Farris: 3.68 d/s
Some pregame color - no telling who will be good, it changes game to game. Langs didn't play in their loss to UNLV and her first game back was in the loss to UCF. She has been playing the best of her career this year. The same can be said for Kennedy Farris - she is been great so far this year. Elnady has been very steady - and cannot ask more than .311 from your OH. Bien has been the glue on serve receive and defense that makes much of this work. Davis has taken over for Szabo at RS - while Szabo's numbers for the year are still good. KU will go to a 6-2 in order to get Szabo's blocking in the game (she is a better blocker than Davis) - put Davis brings much more heat.
Bechard has been using McGehe, Kirsch, and Schultz interchangeably each match as the DS's - there is just no way to know who will be playing on Saturday.

Passing hasn’t seemed like Baylor’s biggest issue this season but it also hasn’t been a strength.

So I don’t think this game will be on ESPN+ today (usually KUVB twitter has the link and it would be on the website). robably because the TV crew is working the KU vs. ISU football game. Really unfortunate, especially given it’s a high profile matchup in the Big 12.

Just checked ESPN and the match isn’t showing as upcoming one either… That would be awful if this game wasn’t streamed as it was supposed to
