Let me get the timeline straight. Texas Tech was on a European trip until the end of May. As soon as the plane landed the HC fired the two assistants, who just got married before the trip? A week later he has the new staff in place? Sounds like he was going to fire the assistants before the team trip and he had set the wheels in motion to hire the replacements. He traveled throughout Europe with these two assistants who had no idea they were going to be sacked, they were just enjoying the trip. In the mean time the HC was undergoing the hiring process behind the assistant's backs? Man, I have heard low down sneaky and cold blooded, this has to rate pretty high up on that list. Can someone help me with this? Did I get the timeline wrong? Not to mention both assistants are probably better choices and have had some success with him…just very sketchy.

And ACU is without a HC or AC (he went to TAMU) months before the season starts. The whole thing seems so icky.

Sometimes the coaching game is tough… and good ppl go through tough spots… but there is no excuse for treating ppl who, by all apparent metrics, have done right like garbage… being a good human costs nothing…

I do know that no head coach wants to be searching for assistants in June. So to me, Occam’s razor would suggest there is something that forced the head coach’s hand here.

Is it possible that the assistants knew what was happening, however as a show of GOOD faith, the HC allowed them to go on the trip before announcing anything? The trip was already paid for, so the school so no harm in allowing them one last hoorah with the squad...maybe they have already been starting their next job search prior to the trip as well...

And there was nothing that forced the coaches hand. Just a crappy move by the head coach. And not for the first time in his career

I do know that no head coach wants to be searching for assistants in June. So to me, Occam’s razor would suggest there is something that forced the head coach’s hand here. Occam's Razor or the law of Parsimony states that given A and B, the simplest explanation is best. Is what you propose the simplest? You stated that no HC wants to look for assistants in June. I would agree. This HC filled the spots in record time. The simplest explanation is that he probably started looking well before June, before the assistants were fired. Possibly even before they left on the trip. As for the other supposition, that the assistants knew they were going to be fired before going on the trip and they went on the trip to enjoy the team trip. I don't know, if I knew I was going to lose my livelihood when I return, going on the trip would be the least of my concerns, I would want to be out looking for jobs because like HCs, no assistant coach would want to be looking for jobs in June, knowing that preseason training is weeks away and staffs are usually set by this time. As for the conjecture that something happened. Absolutely. But what and when are the unanswered questions.

Tony Graystone does not treat people very well. I have zero knowledge on this coaching situation but I've also known him to pull a scholarship offer after weeks after it had been accepted and not make the phone call himself to communicate the "change in situation".
Texas Tech now has an assistant coach with middle school experience. Really? A P5 assistant? I know many of experience, qualified coaches that can't get in at this level of coaching.
"Before coming to Tech, Rohme spent time at Kingdom Preparatory Academy in Lubbock where she coached the middle school volleyball team. In addition, Rohme coached three levels of volleyball teams with Lubbock’s Flatland Volleyball Club."

Maybe this is a culture move.

Just confused about the firing.

Just confused about the firing. there is still movement going on though. Yes this is a p5 change so everyone is sketched out by it. But the mid majors are getting hit because of the p5 taking on 3rd assistants. My guess - something happened and forced Tony’s hand. Love to hear why that is your guess given all the information rather than him doing a %*$#ty thing. Especially how fast he has the assistants lined up. A forced hand doesn’t mean you take the assistants on a European tour and then fire them. Nope. So ask yourself why your guess doesn’t include someone being a bad person, but it was other people’s fault.

Why do people so easily sling hate/mud with so little information. This has become the American way. It just gets easier and uglier every year. Maybe after the info comes out Tech will deserve the mud. I don’t know. I just get repulsed by the self righteous mud slinging without almost any info.
