Why do people so easily sling hate/mud with so little information. This has become the American way. It just gets easier and uglier every year. Maybe after the info comes out Tech will deserve the mud. I don’t know. I just get repulsed by the self righteous mud slinging without almost any info. You have a point. Conjecturing and mudslinging are the nature of VolleyTalk. It is an integral part of the site from the beginning. But. There are people here who know the story and have spoken up. Their credentials and track record suffice for me.

Jon Wong is listed on the USA U19 coaching staff.

Any word on AU? Heard there were 4 candidates; one with a former head coaching job and 3 former assistants. Wondering if it will be a fresh start or continuation of Goldberg’s legacy….

Just curious to know if it is common (or not) for student athletes to be involved in the interview process for D1 head coaching positions? Do AD’s usually keep the candidates and the hiring process pretty under wraps? Or does it just depend on the situation and people involved?

Depends on school/dept interview policy, but it is not uncommon to have a player, or 2, on search committee. At the very least, not uncommon to have a candidate meet with available players during campus interview.

Does anyone know why the main thread page is not being updated with the job postings and filled positions? Because the person who made the OP has not logged on at all since January.. Only the person who made the OP can edit it. Yeah I see that. I am sure it is big task. I feel like volleyball community comes here for job post vs. NCAA website. I wonder if it will be continued in the future

A couple of years ago a D1 school gave the team a chance to meet the candidates who were in for their first interview. The candidates obviously hadn't told their team they were interviewing so the admin asked the players to hold the ID of the candidates in confidence. As soon as the meetings were done the players reached out to the players on at least two of the teams of those candidates - one who got back to campus to face some upset players, and another whose player's knew and at least immediately the coach didn't know they knew (not sure if or when they found out). It's kinda like when a school issues a press release announcing who the finalists are. I get that is normal for VPs but it's pretty awkward for a coach who doesn't get hired.

Totally makes sense and yes I can very much see this happening. I have heard of students being involved though so I was just curious which was more common - involved or not involved? I could see including a team captain or two in the final stage interviews and swearing them to secrecy.

I've also heard of cases of players being involved and then having their opinions 100% ignored - as in Players:"both a and b were good, whatever you do, don't hire c" AD:"congrats c - you're hired"
