ngl i was kinda hoping Maryland would keep things interesting and push it to a 5th. tough match for lauenstein, mendelson, krause and batenhorst...all hit negative or close to 0. the team as a whole hit around .100... not a good match for orr. 7 doubles, a service error and quite a lot of bad setting. hoping for a speedy recovery for hames! Hmm..what’s the common denominator when all the hitters stink??? Can I have “Setter” for $500, Alex? |

Did Orr have trouble with doubles in club/HS ball? 7 doubles is absolutely insane for a setter at any collegiate level, mind you someone like Orr who set for 6 years of varsity high school ball, and is the former #1 recruit in the country. And it's worth noting she's only setting half of the time! I've never seen someone with good hands and several years of experience struggle so much to set a clean ball.

I feel like the .099 hitting percentage against Maryland was a combination of trap sets and bad location by Orr, but also Jones and Russ blocking. Not Neb’s hitters, or Anni.

I saw some video of Orr when she was in HS, and I didn't see anything approaching this level of incompetence. How could you be the #1 recruit if you were mangling balls with this type of regularity? Maybe what has happened is similar to golfers who get the yips when putting. |

imo it’s just mental right now, as a setter if there’s any hesitation or doubt the ball won’t come cleanly out of your hands no matter how technically sound you are

She’s not only battling with the thoughts about her knee but she’s trying to run an offense for a team with the biggest fan base in the country. Even a healthy athlete would have a hard time grinding through that. I’m hopeful she’ll get back to her former self, she seems like a fantastic young lady that you want to root for. |
