I’m curious what the relative ratings are between volleyball and football. I don’t understand what criteria BTN uses for their programming or who makes those decisions. How much of it is driven by ratings? Is it Fox that drives the programming decisions? Someone within the conference? A mix? They’re putting up a lot of money. But I’m not familiar with how it all works. As far as the match, like nearly every B1G match, I have no idea what to think. At this point I don’t know if Wisconsin is ever going to end up playing as well as I thought they would before the season began. At least consistently. I feel like that’s a big part of where the Wisconsin fans’ despindency Comes from. They share some of those same feelings. Nonetheless this is a talented Wisconsin team led by a very good head coach. Maybe this is where they start putting it together? Or at least show a glimpse. Purdue on the other hand has the obvious question mark...the schedule. Minnesota has been a bipolar child all season, and their manic version was definitely not on display versus Purdue. They have wins over Utah and Tennessee, but those don’t exactly have a wow factor. They were obliterated by Louisville who didn’t derail the Hudson Hype Train, but they slowed it down a tiny bit, even while she averaged almost 6 kills per set. Does Wisconsin get on track a bit? Or does Purdue pick up another important “perception” win? Because I don’t care how up or down Minnesota or Wisconsin have been. The name on the jersey means something: to fans, voters, and even to Purdue players themselves. Both of those programs still have exceptionally talented players and accomplished head coaches. Shoot, i know some people are already looking at Purdue as a legitimate contender for the B1G conference title. Given the turnover on their roster, and the caliber of competition within the conference, that would astound me. At the moment I like either Nebraska or Ohio State for that role, but enough strong wins against the perceived preseason top 4, and suddenly it becomes a reality. One thing I do know. Following the B1G is very humbling in terms of thinking I have a handle on teams. |

Let me put it in this way. I expect a sweep but I hope not.
Being realistic, I think Eva is gonna murder our right side without Smrek.
I don't think we're going to get Plummered or anything. Hudson is hitting hitting .331 but Purdue had a soft non-con schedule so racked up lots of kills against patsies. Then again, that's about all the bad things I can think of saying about the B10 2022 Freshman of the Year. We have a good block without Smrek (in fact, I've expressed that I don't think she's nearly the best blocker on the team - people see her size and ignore the technique and moxie of our shorter players). I don't think Hudson will shred us. Purdue does have the advantage, but this match is winnable and I'll accordingly be disappointed with a loss. She had 17/.224 vs Louisville, 21/.364 vs Minnesota and 24/.380 vs. Illinois. |

If each team plays up to the current capabilities, I like the Badgers chances. Bring the block so they have something to think/worry about, take care of business on serve/ receive and cash in on the "easy" opportunities.

Prior to last year and a couple of hiccups, the Badgers have played well against Purdue, even in years when they were winning fewer than 7 Big Ten matches. So you just never know.
I was surprised Purdue went five with IOWA last night.

I'm revising my opinion on the fringes since that Purdue Iowa match, but I still feel like Purdue wins this in four. They will be more focused for UW than they were for Iowa. Badgers are just too inconsistent.

I'm revising my opinion on the fringes since that Purdue Iowa match, but I still feel like Purdue wins this in four. They will be more focused for UW than they were for Iowa. Badgers are just too inconsistent. Bad match. Good match. Bad match. Good match. We're due to see the bad badgers. Bad badgers tend to show up on the road, especially after there was good badger on the road. Hard for the 2022 team to hold that. But if Badgers manage to pull this out it would be a confidence booster. |
