Wisconsin @ Purdue: Sat 10/8/22, 6p ET / 5p CT (BTN+)

Just watched the replay, a few thoughts here:

1) Eva Hudson is a generational talent. It's insane how shotty and heady she is at such a young age. Didn't go for a high percentage tonight, but carried such a big load for Purdue. I was impressed.

2) Franklin was clutch in clutch moments. HP wasn't there again, but... this match was DEFENSIVE af. No one hit for a high % minus Smrek, and I thought she pulled through in big moments, which is the opposite of how it's been trending... so, I'm happy for her.

3) Smrek looked like final four Smrek. Wisconsin is a scary team when they get her going.

4) Wisco's 6-2 looked SO clean tonight. I'm glad Sheffield stuck with it, even when folks (including me!) were telling him to scrap it.

5) Grace Loberg is "B1G" time. Third match on BTN+ that I've heard her commentate, and she is just. getting. better. and. better. every time they give her a shot.

I would only add that Orzol was key to UWs win. Also, Loberg from the beginning had some good insights that some of her play by play partners did not recognize. She is very aware of what hitters are trying to do. For example, she is very aware of when hitters are trying to recycle the ball and is demanding of coverage for hitters. What’s changed is that her delivery has gotten more relaxed and less stilted.

Re-watching set 4. The Badgers are still struggling with set placement, but somehow the hitters are making it work.

Ok, so the match point leap for GG is apparently leap into the other 5 players and have them all hold her up, not just Ashburn.
