Do any coaches/players/team’s practice not just tooling the block off hands and arms, but “tooling” or hitting into the space between the blockers and the net? The ball being only 8” across, do blockers train to close that distance or is that such a narrow window of opportunity with risking touching the net the trade off isn’t considered. I guess I’m wondering what is the ideal measure from the net to set up the elite block - without buying a book to actually learn about it. 😝

How many teams towel the floor when they want to kill the other team's momentum without burning a TO? if there is moisture (blood, sweat, tears, etc.) on the court, it should be wiped up to reduce the risk of injury. (and all volleyball arenas should have AC to be used when needed. It's the freakin 21st century)

How do coaches evaluate players in the transfer portal if they are riding the bench for their current team? Do they go watch old high school recruiting videos of the player? Bring them in to play with their current players to see if they're the right fit? How does this work?

Are there any other sports where makeup/cosmetics are used as much as they are used in volleyball? Maybe it is used in many sports and I just haven't noticed as much They get pretty nutty with the eyeblack in women's Lacrosse.

I've seen the kids from Navarro...it's a sport.

this maybe was already answered but what are the pros/cons of having the OPP hid in serve recieve vs them actually being in the rotation and passing? i notice the majority of teams hide their OPP i just wanted to know the reasoning behind it especially if the player is a decent passer

Most teams play this player at opposite and don’t have them pass. There are systems that feature a passing opposite and less passing responsibility for an outside hitter, they are just a little trickier to make work. China used that system en route to a gold medal in 2016.

Their makeup would run, and stain their jerseys

There are systems that feature a passing opposite and less passing responsibility for an outside hitter, they are just a little trickier to make work. China used that system en route to a gold medal in 2016. This is pretty typical in all sports. I mean, it would be great to have a team of nine (or more) baseball players all of who could hit for high average, or power, could throw good major league breaking balls, could throw to home plate from deep centerfield on the fly, could throw out base-stealers from their knees, and who had the reflexes of a great shortstop. You could play them anywhere. But such people don't exist, because it's easier to find nine specialists than nine perfect generalists. So yeah, if you have three great hitters who are also great passers, that's fine. But it's easier to find two great hitters who are great passers and one who you have to hide in serve receive.

What's the idea behind the orange colored court (in pro Volleyball)?
I'm aware some clubs customize but they still add some orange to the mix.

It's just not a spectacle for me.

Doesn’t it make sense that you see more men at the upper tier of coaches in the women’s game because women’s playing careers on average, last longer than men involved with the sport?
Mainly because of amount of options out of high school.
