(RV) Houston (15-2, 6-0 AAC) at Southern Methodist (12-6, 5-1 AAC) RPI Rankings: Houston #13, SMU #54 Time: 1pm CT Live Stream: www.espn.com/watch/player/_/id/f2403e2e-dc01-4a45-ab66-2f61b47624a2Live Stats (ESPN+): stats.statbroadcast.com/statmonitr/?id=419180Match NotesAnyone looking for some Friday volleyball to start off this weekend, here ya go! SMU is looking for an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament while Houston would like to host the 1st-2nd rounds. SMU actually beat Houston twice last year, so, this should be a heated matchup with a lot of importance for both teams.

Houston leads the match 2-0, -22 and -21.
Houston has more offense (36 kills vs. 24 for SMU). Both teams similar hit % and errors though. SMU out-blocking Houston.

Houston sweeps! -22, -21, -18. This was the match that was most concerning for me for Houston losing (besides their regular season finale at UCF).
Bad news for SMU - they have lost both of their matches at home against UCF and Houston. Not sure they are going to have any case to make the tournament. They still have UCF and Houston on the road, but not looking good.
Houston plays at Memphis on Sunday who has steadily been improving in the AAC in recent years and could be a test. But Houston is looking good this year!

I'm almost surprised Houston was able to make routine work of SMU in Dallas. SMU looks like the 3rd best team in the American, and UH has made a habit of dropping sets to inferior opponents, including going 5 with Tulane (ugh). This is only Houston's second sweep in the AAC. Hopefully they can keep it going vs. Memphis.

If I recall from last year, SMU beat them which probably kept Houston from an at large bid. So might of added some fuel to this match

My chaos meter wants Houston to keep rolling and to force the committee to give them a top 16 seed.

I believe Cooke was hurt and out for that ECU match which makes it sting even more if that's truly what kept them out of at-large bid range. Anyway, nice match today against SMU. In addition to the usual Theut/Jackson show I thought Kortlynn Henderson was really taking some solid rips instead of tipping so much and the middles were nicely involved too.
