I took yesterday to heal after watching the bizarre bronze medal match. I think I'm still not completely over it, but I couldn't be more ready for 2023.

After reading through the threads for the semifinals and the bronze medal match (which I had actually expected it to be USA vs Brazil), I too need to recover from this, but I’m excited for a new year next summer and hopefully we see the glory that the USA women’s team had in 2021. I guess Olympic champs carry more pressure, and add to the fact that a lot of players took a break/retire/were not named to the roster. As Aaron Russell’s wife commented on Instagram, we should celebrate the players’ perseverance. 4th place it is… http://instagram.com/p/CjwJRJcLCSD

If JT was cleared... but not chosen bc of missing a week of practice... that's absolutely absurd from the staff (I mean it was absurd anyways... given the first two weeks hardly matter)
I don't know how serious it was, but on JT's insta stories today she said she had a concussion and provided a video clip...

Annie (it seems) was the one that concussed JT. I will be suing bruinsgold for damages.

I looked at the NORCECA calendar for 2023... and i hope its not finalized because its a mess
U19 NORCECA Championship: Feb 5-13 U21 NORCECA Championship: Mar 5-13 VNL: May 30-July 16 U19 World Championship: July Pan-American Cup: August 4-14 IOQT: Sept 14-24 U21 World Championship: September Pan Am Final Six: Oct 6-15 Pan Am Games Oct 21-26
Interesting notes USA isn't gonna have a U21 team at World's unless they let them miss two-three weeks of school? not happening
Will they even field U19/21 teams for the continental championship? those are usually in the summer too
Club season starts September 29.... USA is gonna have to go to the scraps for the Pan Am Final Six/Games again, instead of being able to use it as an actual developmental tournament.

I did some digging. 2022 is the first time that this team has not garnered an international medal since way back in 2009. Other bleak seasons were in 2013 and 2017 which were the first year in those quads so the teams were missing returning olympians.
It appears Karch has a Santarelli/Serbia problem. Got whooped by him/them 3 out of 4 times this season.
We need answers for sure. I say give the Olympians an entire summer off. I still think we have the talent in the gym to qualify for Paris with out them. They all look gassed and banged up.

Also ToddyJ sorry but 2018 VNL gold was not compensation for WCH.

This thread is a mess and off the rails 9 pages of pure absurdity, I live. 2023 is fast approaching and one year out from the Olympics these girls are tired non stop training. I think our expectations were high as they should be but maybe and hear me out we performed right where we should be How many new faces did we see for this world championship we lost most our leadership and players from our Olympic team, with a few players returning who mostly played supporting roles. Big questions? Can we get an outlet hitter. Team USA hasn’t had one since you know who so can anyone step into that role a point scorer like Boskovic and Egonu. Can our outsides pass? Who will set? Poulter seemed to have regressed and Carlini showed flashes or greatness and then came back down to the median. I think what I took away from this WCH was disappointment it’s nice to be top 4 in the world but this team seemed to lack the signature fight even when down. They didn’t seem to push hard. I hope we can get back to basics passing and setting. Run a fluid offense. Also Karch please I know you haven’t heard no much in your life but it’s ok to be wrong sometimes stop letting your ego control you. A year to sort through the issues see if anyone steps up I think this back half of the quad should be very interesting. Plummer can be the outlet hitter, but I'm not sure Karch will ever use her in that way.

Do we think Skylar Fields would
1.) buy into kumbaya culture and 2.) buy into the switch to oppo
or are we gonna have to rely on JT staying healthy (lol), Annie Drews to stop hitting directly into blocks and developing OOS swings, or Kendall Kipp to be the girl boss she is?
