I dont think so but the competition for the final roster spot is going to be hard. There's four spots for Larson, KRob, Bajema, Frantti, Plummer, Avery, Khalia. Although im not even sure if Larson/Krob/Bajema are even in the gym yet. Is Bajema #3 in Karch’s eyes? I’d assume Frantti would be #3 in Karch’s eyes. I remember someone mentioning how she plays very Kim Hill like. Also she’s proven to be that #3 outside.

I'm thinking Team USA goes 1-3 during week 2 of the VNL based on the roster selected. Anyone else in this boat? Not a chance in the world USA goes 1-3. Not in the history of the VNL has USA ever had that poor of a week. USA staff specialize in competing in this format, even with a B/C squad roster they will at very worst go 2-2.

USA is going to cruise thru this week and their block and attack are going to look awesome… Their opponents are some of the smallest teams in the competition and none of them bring enough service pressure to keep the USA out of system. They lost to Japan last year out of complacency (started Dixon & Kingdon), and swept Brazil’s B team. Brazil at home will be tougher, but even 3-1 would be an unlikely disappointment.

I'm legit curious how long you invest in a player and which players get the most chances? took jwo like 4-5 years to become an elite lib for the national team. took Bartsch even longer to earn herself similar status as an OH. I think it's smart to stay invested in everyone until the coaches feel like they've peaked / will never fit into the system. everyone on here was freaking out about usa lib situation before the summer of 2021 and jwo ended up making massive strides that summer after some sub-par showings with usa in previous years. frantti took some years to get to the level she's at now too. I think people write Plummer off too quickly sometimes and forget she's only like 3 years post grad.... there's time.

The problem is that this NT staff sees their job as selecting or curating athletes, not developing them. Pro clubs don't see that as their primary job either, so figuring out how and where that happens is something the athletes have to prioritize for themselves. I don't know that Frantti or Plummer are there yet.

The US has a ton of OH's in the pipeline, but they need to put in the work to develop into what the NT needs.

The question is whether the primary development is actually happening in the USA gym (it used to), and how it will happen if it’s currently not.

this week will answer my question about who I think would be better in the libero spot between Kelsey and Hentz
I think the answer is honestly Kelsey (and even Larson) but I’m looking for a big Hentz week to prove me wrong !
