The problem is there isn’t one way to do anything, you have to do with what you have. Krob is a defensive outside who can score occasionally, that is why one of the terminal outsides is needed. USA won with basically two all Rounders. The problem with having one of the more offensive outsides who can’t pass as well is that when they are in the back row or front row for that matter and make a bad pass you need JT to be able to score those OS balls. USA didn’t have only one problem last summer, I can name about 4, but JT getting more OS hitting reps in monza and doing well recently is great for USA and frantii/Plummer getting a lot of passing reps this year and not looking too bad is a good look for team USA. At the end of the day they have until 2024 to make it work, that’s a lot of time for the younger players to develop they will be fine I'm not quite sure what you're trying to say.
KRob + most terminal outside does not work because most terminal outside gets picked on in SR and we will lose the OOS game against the top teams. If that most terminal outside is also a solid enough passer, woo hoo let's go. But we need to get our middles involved, and set KRob and JT/Annie in-system, and simply throwing our heaviest arm into OH1 without caring about passing won't enable that to happen.
That's all I'm saying really.
Lol that’s literally what I just said. I said the heavy arm bad passers lead to more OS scenarios and I said the way to solve that is for JT to be atleast more terminal than she was last summer and i think she will be . I also said the bad passing might not be as bad anymore with Plummer and Frantii improving. If u want to go with krob as your lock at outside I think you need a terminal outside beside her, it’s just as simple as that. Also if you play Plummer you need to sub her atleast once back row for defense, karch needs to stop thinking he is a genius and just follow santarelli

KRob (and her offense) is not even the top 5 of issues from the WCHs
KRob will be a 2023 starter.

Larson was the terminator between the two in Tokyo. MBH outscored Larson against Argentina, China, Italy, DR, and Brazil so 5/8 matches at the OG. The point being that there really wasn't a "ball-control" and a "terminator". It was two great ball-control OH with adequate attacking. There's no evidence that the "one-of-each" path wins the US anything. What a weird way to make your point when they scored the same # of points. But check those hitting percentages! At that point in time, MBH was moreso on the court for "ball-control" than Larson was. Oh, I'm also not convinced re: KRob's front row play.

KRob (and her offense) is not even the top 5 of issues from the WCHs KRob will be a 2023 starter. If I had to list our biggest problems right now, particularly looking at the WCH, I'd say: 1. Karch's refusal to sub out struggling players 1a. Karch's refusal to sub out Poulter 1b. Karch's refusal to sub out Washington 1c. Karch's refusal to sub out Cook 2. Opposite inconsistency/depth 3. Opposite roster selection (I'd switch 1c and 2 but 1c goes with 1 and my OCD refuses to let me mess that up) According to a random (yet knowledgeable) poster, it's #5.

the problem with taking Kelsey out is it amplifies the issues they had in Poland even more. (yes I know SWP should've at least had somewhat of a bigger role, but we have to accept that she just wasnt... which is another problem bigger than Kelsey's offense)
Other than the Poland match (and the Thai match which she got pulled)... Kelsey's offense was fine at the WCHs.
Frantti/Bajema/SWP taking a roster spot were all more problematic by the end.

meaningful challengers (Rettke, Stevenson, whoever) to Haleigh is going to be important. USA needs better blocking alongside Chi. They were getting touches on everything in the OG (with Foluke) JT returning to the lineup will help that (sorry Annie). Carlini over Poulter too. Left side will be interesting. Kelsey isn't a great blocker, but her defense makes up for it. I don't think Frantti/Plummer/etc has any significant blocking advantage over the other. (Plummer might just cause she's tall) the initial insane depth at setter we had seems somewhat depleted now that Poulter won’t be in the gym. This is not a diss on Carlini or Hancock but if one of them goes down, who else do we have stepping up? Kinda makes you worry no?

www-old.cev.eu/Competition-Area/MatchStatistics.aspx?ID=64245Kelsey 6-5-21 for .047 (plus 3 service errors) that's some locked-in national team starter numbers there! KRook 11 receptions to Plummer's 27 (Moki 5). This is what I'm getting at - it doesn't matter who else you have out there in SR with Plummer (or Frantti) she's getting every serve. Might as well have someone who's not going to hit .047. Or go completely the other way and pair KRook with another really good passing OH and count on being in-system all the time (like Tokyo). The "one-of-each" approach is useless because the weaker passer gets every serve anyway.

Also trying to choose OHs and MBs while being considerate of the wear/tear from the pro season and giving the "big guns" rest is... rough. With so many vets hurt/retiring, we really need to develop some options there.
