It's 2022, people don't get fired for having their nudes hacked or leaked. Not true, you have teachers that can't afford to do the job they love and are turning to only fans sometimes not even selling nude photos, and having parents complain to the point they are losing their positions. And it most certainly can impact you being hired, or at the very least make you a topic of office gossip which could become wildly uncomfortable and make someone want to leave a job they might otherwise love. Running a side business as a semi-amateur porn star is different from having private photos stolen.

Also, everyone clutching their pearls in this thread is vastly underestimating how many people their own kids (or spouses!) are sending naughty pictures to.

How, this goes against all those that are arguing for freedom of sexuality and claiming people are contributing to sexism. So are you saying if one of these college athletes is selling underwear photos, or feet pictures, as a side job in college they are under pressure for grounds of punishment from the team or university, yet girls that choose to take photos that some would consider illicit in university issued team gear, in a university facility, that were stolen is different? You can't talk about freedom of expression, woman sharing their breasts the same as men, or claim sexism then change your mind when a woman is profiting from it.

It's about privacy and publicity.

Also, everyone clutching their pearls in this thread is vastly underestimating how many people their own kids (or spouses!) are sending naughty pictures to. Are there other people in the photos that did not consent resulting in them also being vulnerable to be exposed for the world to see while also doing it in university or employer issued apparel or university or employer facilities?

Running a side business as a semi-amateur porn star is different from having private photos stolen. I don't think either of them should have any sort of negative impact on someone's professional lives (but alas, our society sucks and too many people will judge people for stuff like that)

You are blaming the victim. Stop it. or trying to prevent/reduce the occurrence of such instances in the future No. Just blaming the victim. It is NOT the behavior - taking photos or walking at night, or "dressing like that" - that causes the "instance". To say or imply otherwise is blaming the victim.

By you saying this is a bad take, one could assume that you think there is a stigma around a public school teacher that makes 30k a year selling underwear and feet pictures to supplement the fact she is underpaid, yet you champion woman who took the same exact photos with non consenting individuals in the background that unfortunately got out after intended to be private. I believe this is called, not being able to have your cake and eat it too. Or just simply called hypocrisy.

You're saying "don't take pictures, and pictures won't get leaked". That's blaming them for taking the pictures. That's blaming the victims for the leak. Stop it! Since you keep coming back with the same exact response to every post, I will continue to ask you the same question. If one of the parents or woman are angry enough and feel that they were wronged, and decide to bring a lawsuit against one of the original picture takers for taking a non consensual picture of them completely nude in the background, or the school for negligence of a code of conduct or video device in the locker room, would you change your opinion? No. Parents have no say in this - everyone was an adult. If players objected to photos being taken there are plenty of ways to handle it at the time (ask it stop, ask cqptains to handle it, report it to admin, report it to police) - If they reported the it and the school/authorities ignored their complaints then there is an issue.

UW has shown blatant disregard about potential liability? How so? You can not monitor and manage what athletes are doing at all times, and no amount of rules prevents people from not always exercising the best judgement. I am literally blown away by how serious people think these actions were, the only thing outrageous, serious or damaging is the fact someone shared and leaked pics. You didn't read my post well enough or have been following then. I am speaking about the blatant disregard from posters here that are not taking into account the liability problem UW faces here, I guarantee they are not just saying oh shoot, these girls got exposed lets go get those people. While they have shown they in fact are doing that, they are also likely having internal conversations about their potential risk and exposure - people sue for anything now and UW is not out of the woods yet. There is no liability unless the disregarded previous complaints. Should the school also outlaw phones anywhere players expect privacy?

Got it, you’ll have to excuse me for just assuming this was yet another idiotic take. I guess I don’t know how UW would be liable here, but that certainly wouldn’t prevent someone from throwing a lawsuit at them.

Think about these young women moving into their profession after volleyball. If they move into a role where women are the minority, it is extremely difficult to be taken seriously and not get objectified for your looks. Now imagine you are dealing with this, and a picture of you topless gets out to your co-workers. What was already a difficult situation just became a lot worse. You think those male co-workers are going to pay attention to them when they are talking about work? Do you think they will be taken seriously?
This is not ok, and whomever did this needs to be punished. Don’t blame the women either.

To say or imply otherwise is blaming the victim. does it "cause" the "instance"? no. does it increase the likelihood of the "instance" occurring to that individual? yes. snapping pictures while people are undressed is risky behavior. team bonding photos are great, but they don't have to be done with naked people around
