It should be a good test for Michigan and OSU. I think that OSU is a stronger than Michigan at this point. The Wolverines got beaten handily at Notre Dame, and they need to diversify the offense to have a chance against Nebraska or beat Long Beach. Bruzdzinski is a good all around player, but you don't want to be setting her all the time. They should be able to put up a solid block, though. OSU has a core of good players returning, but I think beating Nebraska would be a stretch. The meeting with Long Beach should be interesting. Which middle will have the better match: Meyer or Crimes? In a general question, how good will LBSU be this year? I don't really have a feel for them, but I am sensing they have fallen pretty far from their past heights in the last two seasons.

I'm not an expert, but from what I've seen and heard...new blood on the team, still working through injuries and having been a setter myself....new setter means making new connections with the hitters. Lots of stuff going on...but it'll be a fun year to watch.

I agree that having a new setter is cause for some concern. Wisconsin actually managed to avoid that situation for several seasons, but they didn't look very good at times at the start of last season when Simpson struggled a bit early on. Lorenzen even replaced her for a while. On the positive side, though, it means that your team has a lot of upside when those connections improve. Simpson improved a lot and gained a comfort zone as the season went on, and the Badgers were much better at the end of the season than at the beginning. The same could be true for Long Beach this year.

We can expect two new banners unfurled for OSU's 2 POYs and some sweet volleyball!

Okay, I can't stand it! Someone should change the title of this thread to read "Ohio State-LongBeachState..." instead of "Ohio-LongBeachState..." I know, little things bother me.

My daughter would refer to this as "anal"..... Three periods ("...") at the end of your sentence is more than sufficient; four is excessive. Thank you.

New setter is always a challenge, most important is who will be the starting setter. The sophomore started both matches but Vargas finished, and finished smokin.... Who knows what Coach G has up his sleeve. LBS Will play well, they might surprise the small crowd of 1,000. There is alot of new blood and some of it is very, very, competitive. One thing i know for a fact that it will be a Beeeech match..... Hey! "Whats up with the small crowd"? I thought there was nothing else to do in Ohio, but watch Volleyball......

Hey! "Whats up with the small crowd"? I thought there was nothing else to do in Ohio, but watch Volleyball...... I have a theory: unlike football, it's not a social thing to "be seen" at a VB match here and probably at a lot of universities. To OSU "fans," a football game means a lot more than four quarters of smackdown. Tailgating, drinking, etc. are bigger for some. I guarantee that when OSU breaks its 105,500+ attendance record v. Texas, plenty of people inside the stadium won't give a crap about the game..except the final score. Even my friends who think OSU uses 'football bats' want tix! Our VB crowds are too small, but we who hold 'em dear really get into the matches. I'd love to know if some of that social stuff happens at, say, Nebraska and Hawaii VB. Do they tailgate? That would be hilarious! Heck, I'm still amazed Hawaii's coach does a radio thing every week!
