LMU got that big lead at 17-10 and really just sided out USD for the set win.

I think even if San Diego wins this in 5, I'll have a new number one in the next VT poll. I needed a reason for Texas to take over and I'm seeing it right before my eyes. SD just not clicking on all cylinders.

I will not judge a team based on one game, but San Diego seems a bit vulnerable.
Serve/receive is really bad. If they run into a hot/good serving team in the tournament, I don't see how they'll win.
Almost feel sorry for them having to play in the WCC. It's not their fault. It's just that they don't have the caliber of competition they did earlier.

I think even if San Diego wins this in 5, I'll have a new number one in the next VT poll. I needed a reason for Texas to take over and I'm seeing it right before my eyes. SD just not clicking on all cylinders. I think my thing about Texas is on paper they're just so impressive. There's no guarantee that shows up for 6 matches (or really 4 - from the Sweet Sixteen on) but it's hard to look at their personnel and then look at other teams and say, "Here's where they fall short." But some other teams - and I think of Ohio State as my chief example, but there are others - seem to be greater than the sum of their parts. They don't necessarily have the greatest of the great at every position, but they're really good, and together they play above what you'd think they would based on their individual talents. As far as San Diego, I admit to an emotional bias. I want to see a mid major host a regional for entertainment and sentimental reasons. I don't think it's going to happen, but I'll continue to hope for it.

Sorry. San Diego has been crushing their opponents because their conference isn't exactly the Big Ten. There is no way they are a top 4 team. In fact they wouldn't even be in the top 4 of the Big Ten. They swept Ohio State. No one in the top 4 of the Big 10 has done that. They don't look great tonight. No doubt about that. Beating one of the top teams in the Big Ten once in the preseason is not the same thing as playing week after week in the Big Ten. Still sorry. San Diego is not a top 4 team.

^^ I get going back to the hitter who just made an error, but seems like 3x in a row to Stoner with not great sets is pushing your luck...
