Wisconsin @ Ohio State | Saturday, Nov. 26, 2022 7 PM ET / 6 PM CT | Covelli Center Columbus, Ohio |
Wisconsin secured the outright Big Ten Championship on Friday night with a 3-1 win over Nebraska. Ohio State solidified their position in third place with a four-set loss to Minnesota. 20 hours later, these two teams meet in Columbus.
On the line for Wisconsin: A win against the Buckeyes would add extra weight to the Badgers' case for a top-four seed.
On the line for Ohio State: Ending their season (and a three-match losing streak) by beating the Big Ten Champs would stop their skid in the RPI and shore them up for a better spot in the bracket.

The home of Ohio State Volleyball, the Covelli Center, has ties to Wisconsin.
The lead donors for the Covelli Center project are Sam & Caryn Covelli, of Covelli Enterprises. Covelli Enterprises is a fast-food and fast-casual restaurant franchise business. The family business was founded by family patriarch Albert Covelli when, after his return from WWII, he began opening McDonald's locations. Though at one time Covelli was the largest operator of McDonald's restaurants in the US, they now have zero McDonald's in their portfolio. Today they are the largest national franchisee of Panera Bread and own a vast number of Dairy Queens as well.
The Wisconsin connection? Albert Covelli is a native of Kenosha.

When I was in school at UW - a long, long time ago - my sister was working at Schreiber Cheese in Green Bay. Schreiber was (maybe still is) the supplier of American cheese slices to McDonalds (along with being the actual maker of many 'store brand' cheeses sold all over the place). And while American cheese often get a bad rap, the Schreiber/McDonalds slices were freaking awesome. She would get me these block packages of 4x40 slices that I would take back to the apartment I shared with five other guys, and we would go through them rapidly.

If Murr is back I am seeing this as a 3-2 Wisco, if she is out I would put it at a sweep or possibly 3-1 Wisco...I also think it depends what happens the night before. I am sad Minnesota has to play them first as I am sure they are going to be out to prove themselves again.

I don't know what to think.
Prior to this weekend I thought OSU had a chance at an NC (they still do). But they look vulnerable now.

Mentioned this in a different thread but that's brutal for Wisco to play b2b nights and have to travel hundreds of miles away for the next day! Will be very curious how the Friday night games go in terms of sets played especially.

Can I send a bunch of beer to the Wisconsin locker room right now? It could help save a 2 seed for OSU.

LOL. This is why this board is great.
Come for the volleyball and get incredibly interesting trivia as a side dish...

This becomes irrelevant now. Send the practice team in, rest the starters.

Go Badgers! Great win tonight. One more tomorrow night and make it 25-3…and host the regionals!

No one will deny an outright champion. It is a valid point.
