Does anyone have a link to the actual rules (or a link to a good description) of the transfer portal? Things like who can transfer without penalty? When is the transfer portal window? Rules for redshirt, medical redshirt and covid year?

I thought there were rules in some conferences prohibiting transferring from one school to another in the same conference (Big Ten school to another Big Ten school) without sitting out a year or maybe it could be done with coach approval. Is that still a thing or did Covid wipe that out. I feel like there has been a good amount of this the last couple years.

They got rid of the inter-conference transfer rule because the NCAA was pretty much approving every waiver for it anyway. |

About 150 D1 players entered the Portal yesterday. Let the games begin. Volleyball or all sports? Yesterday was around 900 athletes total. We have 259 volleyball players in the portal since Sunday. |

Honestly, I think coaches thought there would be a ton more than this. It’s still early, but I am guessing a few who had been counting on picking up key components in the portal may be sweating a bit. |

How many more will transfer after their team is knocked out of the tournament? I think the entire portal should wait until after the tournament finals to open up.

You have more teams done than still playing. And a lot of players would like to find new homes before the spring semester starts. Making them all wait until the tourney over would just be a hindrance to the vast majority of athletes. |

You want to open the portal on December 19 and have the players make visits, apply, find housing and register by January 9 in many cases? If that were to happen, coaches are all going to point the admissions and compliance people to you as the reason they don't get a Christmas break anymore!  |

Thats why there are 2 windows for players to transfer. Teams not in the post season have their end of season meetings with players and players will let them know their plans at that time. Then you have the teams that goto the end of the post season and will still have 2 1/2 weeks for any of their players to enter. Most players who are i. The portal want to find a home for the spring semester so they can get in and start training with their new school. If not they still have the spring window in May to enter. |

What everyone is saying makes sense I could just see it stressing an athlete out watching all these players go into the portal while they are still focused on their team playing/winning.

The portal window is just for declaration correct? But you can be bb pursued/make a decision at any point? Whether it’s open or not?
