Lukes finishes it out of the back court and San Diego runs away with the second set to quickly go up 2-0

Just thinking out loud here but what if Blossom went to Perugia and replaced Dilfer after the NCAA tourney is over

Just speaking out loud here but what if Blossom went to Perugia and replaced Dilfer after the NCAA tourney is over she would get absolutely wrecked as a blocker in the Italian leavue

So I don't know anything about setting, but it sure seems like Blossom reliably sets the ball at a height where her hitters are contacting the ball at the highest contact point. Blackwell and Edwards especially seem to be fully extended often when they contact the ball. Am I imagining that? Is it a good thing for hitters to contact it at the highest point? These are actual questions- never played volleyball at a high level. Where’s Kokyu when you need him. #settingexpert

These are actual questions- never played volleyball at a high level. Depends on the hitter, but generally, if you're going to miss a set, it's better to miss it high. You're fortunate on elite NCAA D1 teams where for most of these pins and middles, there's almost no such a thing as 'too high', although every hitter is going to have a specific window you're looking for on most sets. Blossom gets the ball to that window more than 90% of the time, and the other 10% she misses high, which is what you want. Def not imagining it, I think it's what makes her elite. To understand just how good she is, watch her set Hord last year at Penn State, and then watch Nebraska's setters trying to set Hord. They just don't have the consistent location and rhythm to shoot her the ball as high as she needs it in trans, and their 2-balls' location is consistently too close to the setter to be an effective weapon. I think I would chalk that up to a lack of strength over timing.
