Other than set two where UW struggled to squeeze out a 26-24 win, this was a dominating performance by TCU.

Ok - The TCU block really had Hoffman figured out and 5 Aces for 12 service errors really does make things tough (yes, the announcer guy was right). Of course, got to credit Nalls! She carried the TCU offense with 25 kills (though I was suprised that she only hit 0.267 - seemed better than that).
UW(Wash) thanks for another enjoyable season to watch, particularly this senior class.

Endsley has been out for so long.. at some point she needs to stop being brought up as a reason. UW has had ample time to adjust This 100%. She's been out for 2 months and to be frank, Washington wasn't a good team with her. The Huskies still returned 3 All Americans, all but 2 starters from last year and were led by 4 fifth year seniors who all played major roles on their semifinal run 2 years ago. You can't blame a 1st round exit and 5th place PAC season on that.

Sad/ disappointing way for these Washington seniors to end their careers. Kinda reminds me when Schwan/ scambray/ tanner/ jones lost in the second round at home to Illinois

My only hope now is if alwayslearning was in Madison and he logs on shortly with a calming "back from the match" report.

Confession: I may have jinxed Washington here. I pre-drafted a second round thread with the assumption that they’d advance. Whoopsie.

Tough end to a tough season. TCU played well while we once again struggled to hit high gear. Proud of Crenshaw for playing strong all around in her last match, a contributor to the end. Yes, Mikkelsen ended the match with a service error but give her credit for serving tough overall as the third option after Wilson and Morin got pulled one after the other for continued service errors. Encouraged by Summers strong play in this match, hitting and blocking. Bodes well for next year.

Since people keep talking about it.... UW has never lost in the round of 64. There have been years they were not in the tournament at all (most recently 2001). There have been years when they lost in the round of 32 when that was the first round (most recently 1989). But they have never lost in a round of 64. Most recent:Champions (2005) Lost in round of 2 (never) Lost in round of 4 (2020-2021) Lost in round of 8 (2019) Lost in round of 16 (2021) Lost in round of 32 (2017) Lost in round of 64 (never) Not in tournament (2001) Update, I suppose. Most recent:Champions (2005) Lost in round of 2 (never) Lost in round of 4 (2020-2021) Lost in round of 8 (2019) Lost in round of 16 (2021) Lost in round of 32 (2017) Lost in round of 64 (2022) Not in tournament (2001) Well, here's to hoping for a better season next year, or at least one with fewer injuries. Good luck to all the Huskies who are leaving us, and also to TCU in the tournament.

My only hope now is if alwayslearning was in Madison and he logs on shortly with a calming "back from the match" report. More like back from the TV set. Oh well. Disappointing but not surprising loss. Congrats to TCU -- you played good smart volleyball, handled the ball well, and beat the Huskies in every phase of the game that I can think of. This season had its moments for UW -- the home wins against Oregon, USC, and WSU, and an entertaining afternoon of high level volleyball against Stanford in a five-set home loss. I will miss the connection between Ella May and Marin and will miss Claire's craftiness. Shannon did everything you asked of her. It will be a very different team next year. It may be the biggest challenge yet for Cook & Co. because, without thinking too deeply about it, I'm not sure I see how the Huskies are going to make quantum leaps in the areas that they must: serve/pass, blocking, floor defense, and overall ball handling. But who knows -- a new team with new players will find its own strengths and develop its own chemistry -- these things are hard to predict. And yes, Tom, it's OK to start the UW Husky 2023 thread now.

I rooted for the Huskies all season long, and like others, was hoping for a showdown with the Badgers. But hobbled or not, they disappointed once again, in what has become a disappointing season.
Good on you, TCU...very disserving of the win.

Finalists were the UWs, Texas, and Penn State. Things were looking good for UW until we ran into the left-handed killer serve of one Micha Hancock.

Before the match, a lot of UW people were predicting a UW loss and saying things like "I can't remember the last time UW lost in the first round, but...." So I looked it up.
