UPDATE 11-29-22   The regular season has come to an end, let's look at how some of our liberos ended up doing overall on the season!


DISCLAIMER: These statistics never tell the ENTIRE story. Make of them what you will but know that there is always additional context that can aid your perspective. Fans of teams should have enough of a nuanced familiarity with the team to take that into account. For example, a libero might have more attempts. Why? Are they themselves being targeted or are they covering other passers' seams? Who else is in the passing formation? Is there a reliable DS and a reliable 6 ro. OH passing? So Briseño had a better Passing Grade and Good Pass Percentage on more attempts than Fleck and Rodriguez. I'll admit that if I've seen Baylor play this year, it was probably one time, but is she not getting enough love? You can't argue that Big 10 hitters aren't as lethal as Big 12 players when Fleck is in the same conference and has consistenetly been put in the "best libero" conversation.

both can be true. Briseño needs MUCH more love, but you can also see Fleck’s defensive stats are better than Briseño’s. She’s getting to more balls than almost anyone in the country, just like Briseño passes better than almost anyone in the country. I’d encourage looking at SOS too. Briseño was passing like a 2.5 or above when conference started. You look at their non-con, and you see only three tournament teams the entire time, compared to Fleck getting 6 (including 4 top 10 matchups). Now that the season is done, Briseño has come back down to 2.4 (still better than everyone, but not nearly as big of a gap as it was last update).

I've been super impressed with her since she started playing at Baylor. Shes not a super flashy player but soooo consistent and had incredible passing numbers last year if I remember correctly.

If I'm looking at attempts, then she doesn't even come close to the amount of touches.  600+ for at least 10ppl on that list.  I'd also throw in there that, for example, a team like Oregon, with Georgia Murphy, is a 2 person serve receive, vs most team doing tri-line.   So while Murphys numbers might be lower, it also means she's covering more court than a lot of players.

Yes by my eye test her SR is one of best in NCAA. She's soooo solid.
