True to form. The VT level of empathy is.....nonexistence.
I think he is done coaching.
Remember also that everyone thought the UCLA job was the apex of coaching jobs when Banakowski retired. It isn't. Most people in coaching knows it. Moving to the B1G will make it even that much harder. It really depends on what the new hire does with what is left of the roster and the magical portal. It could be that next season VT will be calling for the head of whoever takes over at UCLA.

He’s not a bad person, but not fit to coach at this time

UCLA HISTORIANS UNCOVER RARE MESSAGE ENCODED FROM END OF COLD WAR
Miraculously, a group of scientists at the Luskin Center for History and Policy at the University of California, Los Angeles has been able to uncover a black box-esque device which contains information perfectly preserved from the early 1990s. While much cannot be revealed about the device at the time of the news, the Chancellor of the History Department found the following message inscribed through much of the device:
.... .. .-. . / .-. . --. .-.. .- / - --- .-. .-. . ...

Depends on if UCLA is willing to fork out the bucks to be competitive or will they sacrifice the Olympic sports to be more competitive in football and basketball. The logistics of playing most of your away games in the midwest will be brutal, and expensive.

Moving to the Big Ten makes UCLA more attractive, not less. If UCLA is willing to fork out the bucks to be competitive or will they sacrifice the Olympic sports to be more competitive in football and basketball. The logistics of playing most of your away games in the midwest will be brutal, and expensive. UCLA will be fine if they hire the right coach. The entire reason that they're going to the Big Ten is for more money. But the Big Ten also just so happens to be the strongest women's volleyball conference, and top athletes want to compete against the best. Being able to do that while living in LA is a huge plus.

I made a comment a few weeks ago about Karch possibly taking the job. The tea I’m getting here in these streets is UCLA is 100% going after Karch, whether he takes it or not is a different story.

How much more money? Enough to be competitive with the haves in the new conference? I don't think USC or UCLA knows for sure. They see the above the line numbers and are drooling, but how closely did they scrutinize the below the line numbers? I am not sure they sussed it out completely. Regardless, it is going to happen. We will see how it works out financially. One person can make a lot of difference, but faith and hope are not tangible quantities. AFTER the right person gets a job, the administration still has to let them do their job. Yet another intangible.

AFTER the right person gets a job, the administration still has to let them do their job. Yet another intangible. We're talking about volleyball, right? It doesn't take nearly as much money to be competitive in volleyball as it does in football. I also think it's pretty laughable that you'd suggest that USC and UCLA somehow didn't consider any additional expenses they'd incur by making this move. They know that they'll be spending more in travel costs. But they stand to make tens of millions of dollars more every year, and that money outweighs the costs.
