seattlespectator.com/2022/11/30/seattle-u-athletics-navigates-a-complicated-relationship-with-volleyball-athletes/I have known Bou for almost a decade. She has a very strong sense of right and wrong. She served in the military and you never lose that sense. She is usually very unassuming and quiet, not one to call attention to herself. The fact that she gave this interview speaks to just how strongly she felt about the situation. Not taking the severance because she didn't want to sign the NDA is all Bou. I remember talking to her during her time in Seattle, she was boiling hot about it. Total respect for her for having the integrity to stand up for the players. She is the adult.

I met her once. She parked her car in my driveway for a few weeks. Does that count?

Like, when she moved to Seattle she had no place to park it at first. So she contacted me via Facebook and asked if she could keep it at my house until she found some off-street parking for it. (I guess in fact I have met her twice. Once when she dropped off the car and once when she picked it up again.)

$3,000 for a severance package with an NDA?!? That's maybe one-month's rent for an efficiency in Seattle.

I’ve worked with Bou in various capacities and she is very direct upfront and honest. This is what drew me to the article. I respect her as a coach and how she advocates for her athletes.
Side note sorry for not seeing this thread or would have not posted in other 🫣

Is an NDA a standard for the coaching world?

Is an NDA a standard for the coaching world? I was wondering this, as well. And $3000 in exchange for an NDA? That number seems pretty low to me.

I saw them twice this year. Their HC reminded me of the one that got fired from Ohio Dominican a few years back, when I lived in Columbus. She seemed more concerned about making a political statement with her clothing than coaching the Seattle VB team. The mystery surrounding their on-court ineptitude was sufficiently solved for me at that point.

Politics are verboten on here, so I won't get into the specifics.

I’ve seen OSU’s head coach wear shirts calling for gender equality. I’ve seen Texas players wearing “We Are One” shirts calling for racial harmony and more recognition for racial injustice. I’ve been seen coaches wear pink in recognition of breast cancer awareness month. I’ve seen plenty of coaches and players wear Black Lives Matter shirts. I’ve seen coaches and players wearing apparel with rainbow colors indicating support for LGBTQ+ issues. Let’s see what happens.
