Both teams match up well against Texas but in opposite ways. Do we want left pin/big block? Or right pin/floor defense? No clue who I want/think will win but I’m hoping for a five set slugfest so whoever we see on Saturday (🙏) is still nursing their wounds. Either team will be an amazing test heading into a potential Final Four semifinal match. Minnesota is the more talented. I consider OSU at their best the more scrappy team. If you want an "easier" possible opponent I'd root for OSU, because IMO Minnesota playing at their full potential is as dangerous as any team in the country. On the other hand, they don't play at that level with any predictable consistency. But either team is fully capable of winning this regional, whether Texas is their opponent or not.

Also, the Minnesota match against Texas was in Gregory, so the Gophers won’t exoperience the kind of shell shock we often see wit other opponents. Although frankly the B1G has so many great venues I wouldn’t expect that to occur regardless. Minnesota I think is used to it in general. texas is definitely more in your face than a lot of places, but nebraska, osu, psu, wisco are not easy places to play. even Maryland and Purdue get rowdy in their small gyms. and obviously as you mentioned they've already played in greg. I find it'd be hard to really phase any B1G team with an environment. yes, texas is said to be uniquely loud but a ton of rowdy passionate fans cheering against you is just another Wednesday night in the B1G. it'd be a bigger stage but shouldn't be something that effects either osu or Minnesota greatly Sorry but the "we are texas" is the most annoying chant in college volleyball imo. I don't know why, but it's some combination of having a two-syllable spike and stealing Penn St's "we are" (which I hate at PSU as well)

Absolutely, couldn't agree more. If: a) we cover the tips b) Wucherer tames her cross-court swing c) Landfair finds her prime form & tips less d) Wenaas takes a bit off the back row attack e) Booth keeps playing the way she has been f) McGhie goes on some service runs I don't think there's a team in the nation that can beat us. If 3/6 happen, I think we can take OSU. I don't think we could take on Texas without 4-5 of these.

I'll be there on Saturday, I was thinking of responding in kind with "We Are Sorry" "We are Texas!" "I know, I'm so sorry"

I know the set scores could be 25-19, 25-13, and 25-21, but I don't know who I'm picking to win it. I honestly think either team matches up about the same vs TX: As in, if they play to their absolute highest potential and TX doesn't, there's the potential for a five-set upset. Here’s the morbid part: Neither team serves well enough to really bother Texas in Gregory imo. Minnesota’s defense and Ohio State’s block also both present major obstacles to their chances of beating Texas. Minnesota probably has the better chance to give Texas a run for their money simply because of their block, size, and athleticism but 2 things would have to happen to give them a real shot. 1) They serve more aggressively than they ever have (with less SEs than they made the first time around in Austin). This won’t happen since it’s not Hugh’s M.O. 2) A 2nd pin hitter really steps up behind Landfair and delivers a big hitting performance

All the stuff listed in the post you're responding to was imagining that the back row isn't great (compensating for it). If we had 2021 CC, I think we'd be #1 in the nation (or at least a top-4 seed). Kilkelly has played great lately. Both are excellent servers. If they are both on their game, I could see us beating OSU and putting up a fight against Texas if 2 of those things happened

Tell me you haven’t seen Podraza’s elite serve without telling me you haven’t seen Podraza’s elite serve.

If OSU's block looks like it did against USC, I'm fairly confident we'll move past them. Throughout the match the struggled both up high and outside the block (down the line), which USC at times did a good job of exploiting. Earlier in the match there was a bigger gap on the pins, though they closed it out better as the night went on. Minnesota's defense is certainly a concern (especially against a back-row attack from Eggleston, we seldom get more than two hands up in the middle). Serving difficulties is absolutely true for both teams, though I'm more worried about serve receive.
