Historically I feel that Nebraska eats finesse-y/tempo type teams like Oregon alive, but after getting swept by Minnesota this season I'm not sure.
I think if Nebraska can break Oregon early this could be a surprise easy match, but I'm expecting a 5-set ugly offense grind it out kind of game.

If Nebraska can win the battle of the middles (offensively and blocking-wise), I think they'll handle their business without much trouble.

I can't fathom why they think it's OK to make Oregon play essentially an 8am match.

As a very much NOT a morning person, IMO an 8 AM Pacific start time for Oregon is just cruel. Absolutely RE-DANK-U-LOUS !!

I would give the edge to Oregon here, but as we say in club coaching: Anything can happen in the first match of the day😂

I was doing other stuff while watching but it seemed like Oregon struggled passing in the first set and were out of synch. Nebraska’s block will eat them alive if they struggle passing. If they can pass and run with tempo Nebraska could have problems playing defense in the back row.

I can't fathom why they think it's OK to make Oregon play essentially an 8am match. Too bad Oregon didn't schedule their subregional for Thursday/Friday instead of Friday/Saturday. They had to have known Louisville's regional would most likely get the early time slots for this coming Thursday (as they were listed on the ESPN guide) being the only #1 seed in the Eastern time zone. That extra day off could be important (for travel, etc.).

I wouldn't consider Minnesota a "finesse" team (if I'm understanding you correctly). They are built like a B1G team in terms of height, but they are absolutely a force it quick, precision, tempo, tempo, tempo type of team. Not as crazy as the SSS days (just as Oregon isn't as crazy fast as they used to be either), but they are always a unique challenge to play against. (It's one of the reasons why their results are all over the place. Huge Upsets and Humiliating defeats)

Nebraska’s serving will have to be tough. Their block can absolutely sway this game their way. Bekka and Lindsay will have to block better though.
Oregon’s block isn’t nearly as good as most of the top teams that Nebraska has played.
I think this game will come down to how much Oregon’s offense can get open looks to negate Nebraska’s defense, and how Nebraska’s offense can play against Oregon’s block.

Ducks definitely have the advantage at outside and setter. Middle and libero clearly go to Nebraska. Opposite just kinda depends on the day. The difference between Brooke/Mimi/Pukis and Kubik/Batenhorst/setters seems bigger than the difference at libero and middle when you consider Nebraska can’t really set them and the fact Murphy is really good. Oregon starts slow so I just kinda give Nebraska the first set comfortably. I could see Oregon taking the next three or three of the next four though. They get better the longer they play somehow and I assume that effect will be doubled with the early start time.

I was going to complain about a 10:00 a.m. match start...then I realized that's 8:00 a.m. for Oregon. Ouch. Don't the teams usually practice at like 6:30 every day anyway? Does that help?
