Looks like we are just finalizing week 3. We are on the road weeks 1 in Louisiana (UTEP, Southeastern Louisiana, Grambling), week 2 in California (LBSU, Indiana), and week 4 in California (St. Mary's, Cal Poly).

At today's UW Student Athlete Graduation Recognition, Sophie was one of two speakers selected to represent all athletes. Ella May was one of three to get the Top Dawg award for athletic, academic and leadership performance.

Week Three Home: Thursday 9/7 vs Memphis; Friday 9/8 vs UNLV; Sunday 9/10 vs /FIU. Note Saturday Home Football vs Tulsa. Sounds like a fun UW Home Sports Weekend!

Updated 2023 Roster
Olivia Mikkelsen (S) is no longer listed as she has graduated. Roster size is only 13 players so hoping we are able to get a transfer or two before the season starts.

In terms of Washington's RPI outlook, St. Mary's was a bit sketch to schedule on the road for week 4, but FIU is a complete head scratcher. Why on earth would Washington want to invite an 8-21 team, from a crap conference, for a home tournament? That is a complete F in my book.

Still think another middle in the works? Who knows. If a good middle does not appear, however, I wouldn't be surprised to see May Pertofsky playing some (or a lot) of middle this year.

Graduated, unlikely to be a starter, and maybe not play that much; I can completely understand why she is moving on. Besides another middle, not sure more players are needed-barring injuries of course. And I agree May will be moved to Middle, if the other two middles aren't doing well or an injury comes into place.

Maybe coaches realize it is a "rebuilding" year in some ways, so don't want to overreach and play too tough of teams.

Well I get that, but there are a ton better teams that Washington can do well against that weren't 8-21, and 9-17. I don't even get paid to do this stuff and I could have crafted a better non-conference schedule that Washington could be relatively confident in going undefeated in. Not saying Washington could inherently schedule all the teams I would suggest, but I'm sure they could have scheduled a few. We should have a hard rule in scheduling - no teams in the non-conference with a losing record in the prior year, please and thanks. There are plenty of teams we could rack up wins against that had solid records from last year: Tennesse Tech Campbell Coppin State Florida A&M Southern Illinois Alabama State Delaware State Bryant Tennessee Martin Montana Houston Baptist Binghampton Sacred Heart Appalachian State Weber State West Carolina Portland State Central Michigan Fairfield Southern Mississippi Green Bay Davidson Utah Valley State All of these teams would be better than having FIU fly all the way across the country to wreck havoc on our SOS, or travel to California to play SMU to wreck havoc on our SOS mere days before we have to travel to Pullman to play the Cougars.

Yes, makes sense, but it could be possible that they struggled to get any teams interested in coming to Seattle, so they had to go down the list to find some..
