A healthy Krause takes that spot and then Skyler Pierce will provide some great depth. In a world where other teams are gonna upgrade with the portal, I'm just not sure that's good enough for me anymore. Bring in a proven terminator and if Krause wants to play she knows what she has to do to win the spot. Agreed. Other schools are going to make sure they have a solid name at each position. That second outside hitter position is our weakness and we need someone who can consistently terminate and contribute from that pin. Krause has had moments of solid contributions, but I'm not sure she's the answer when she's getting subbed out consistently for Batenhorst for poor performance. Look to the portal or, if not, maybe see how we can work in both CJ and Merrit instead of keeping both on the right, since the coaches speak so highly of Jurevicious?

Besides Skinner and Franklin, which other returning OHs could start at Nebraska over Krause, Batenhorst, and Pierce? I suppose Landfair, maybe Mruzik and Terry? the portal should be part of the equation for sure. At the same time I feel a heightened sense of satisfaction if we win primarily with players developed in our own system.

Beason got me in tears... She is so lovely. “We were 110% confident we were going to win the match.” Interesting comment. Can’t help but wonder if that mindset contributed to the butt kicking. You expect to win, then your team hits .065 in the first set, and then the opponent keeps pushing back and starts serving you off the court…that can really throw that expectation to win into a “death spiral” as Cook called it. Maybe giving your opponent more respect, being confident but not 110%-we’re-going-to-win expectant, and focusing on simply executing at the highest level, might have allowed a better weathering of bumps in the road. I have no idea. But the best team definitely won this tournament.

Being a really invested fan is tough sometimes. It's a terrible feeling to put a ton of time and energy into a long season and then end on a sour note. Sounds silly to say because it's nothing compared to the grind the players go through just to see it all end like that. But nonetheless, even as someone not scoring a single point for the team, it takes a toll. I love volleyball and for the most part love sharing the season with the community on here. Proud of the team for this season they had. For my own sake though, I think I need a break. Signing off for a while. #GBR Well said. I feel you.

With Krause not playing, is she qualified for a possible medical redshirt?

I think it’s completely expected of top athletes to be confident going into a national championship.

With Krause not playing, is she qualified for a possible medical redshirt? No, she had played too many matches prior to the injury to qualify.

It was generally a good year and I enjoyed following the matches as an international fan. Hoping for another solid year next year!

And she said it AFTER the game, not before. She gave full credit to Texas. But let's tear another emotional player apart who is speaking to the press less than 30 minutes after a crushing loss. Gotdamn I hate this place sometimes. Same thing with people going after Harper on the game thread. God effing forbid these ladies show a little emotion. Robots! You want robots! Get effed.

It was generally a good year and I enjoyed following the matches as an international fan. Hoping for another solid year next year! If by "generally" you mean starting four freshmen and losing two out of 35 matches, and those two losses were to a Final Four team, the runner-up to the toughest conference (which we won), and to the National Champions, yeah. I suppose, generally, that's a good year.
