“We were 110% confident we were going to win the match.” Interesting comment. Can’t help but wonder if that mindset contributed to the butt kicking. You expect to win, then your team hits .065 in the first set, and then the opponent keeps pushing back and starts serving you off the court…that can really throw that expectation to win into a “death spiral” as Cook called it. Maybe giving your opponent more respect, being confident but not 110%-we’re-going-to-win expectant, and focusing on simply executing at the highest level, might have allowed a better weathering of bumps in the road. I have no idea. But the best team definitely won this tournament. Oh wow This is a really dumb take and I wasn’t even rooting for you guys

I think that mentally, you have to be convinced that you can win it to get through the hard times.

With Krause not playing, is she qualified for a possible medical redshirt? No, she played too many matches and her injury was past the halfway point in the season. They are hard and fast rules about medical red shirts.

I just watched the Texas presser, and the reporters mentioned what Harper said to Ella and asked if she had any comment on that. And before Ella could say anything, JE and Asjia / Madi jumped in and said "nope!" 😂😂

Agreed. Other schools are going to make sure they have a solid name at each position. That second outside hitter position is our weakness and we need someone who can consistently terminate and contribute from that pin. Krause has had moments of solid contributions, but I'm not sure she's the answer when she's getting subbed out consistently for Batenhorst for poor performance. Look to the portal or, if not, maybe see how we can work in both CJ and Merrit instead of keeping both on the right, since the coaches speak so highly of Jurevicious? Besides Skinner and Franklin, which other returning OHs could start at Nebraska over Krause, Batenhorst, and Pierce? I suppose Landfair, maybe Mruzik and Terry? Eva Hudson, Chloe Chicoine, Elia Rubin, Anna DeBeer, Melanie Parra, Torrey Stafford, just to name a few. Oh, and Aliyah Carter from K-State.

Cosigned. Great young woman, works hard, is a good teammate, but she isn't good enough to be a starter on a championship contender. A healthy Krause takes that spot and then Skyler Pierce will provide some great depth. Is Pierce good enough to beat out Krause next year?

Don’t understand how Texas took apart the two best teams in the Big Ten. They demolished the Badgers and Huskers. Asjia’s time with the national team and her serve. She was something else tonight. but i still think that this Nebraska team was at an elite level all season and THE top team this season title or not.

Well, we finally saw a team with 4 freshman starters and no seniors look like a very young team. It seemed like the moment was too big for them. No shame in that. I was unbelievably amped and I’m just watching TV. Bingo. I was at both FF matches. Not sure why, but today just felt different. I told my wife I was so amped up I might have an aneurysm. The girls had to have really been feeling the stress.

Beason got me in tears... What an absolute class act! I really hope huskernation showers these girls with nothing but love. They deserve every ounce of support and i thoroughly enjoyed watching them this season.

I’m not conflating confidence in your own abilities and confidence & trust in your teammates with the expectation of winning. As I said, and we’re in agreement, confidence is important. Frankly I think a large percentage of accuracy in SR can be attributed to it. My curiosity was piqued by the phrase “expected to”. I think there’s more to that than just confidence. I’m sure Texas was also confident in their capabilities. They even alluded to the boost they got after Tennessee. Whether or not they expected to win, though, we don’t know. What we do know is they executed on their capabilities better than anyone else.

In a world where other teams are gonna upgrade with the portal, I'm just not sure that's good enough for me anymore. Bring in a proven terminator and if Krause wants to play she knows what she has to do to win the spot. Krause has .323 hitting% in her last 26 matches played in while playing two positions with 4 different setters, hell of a lot more than “moments of solid contribution” and far from a weakness with her as OH2 has played 3 years of NCAA Big Ten volleyball and Merritt Beason has played the same three years, 2 with Florida and 1 with Nebraska. Krause has had a better hitting % in each of the 3 seasons than Beason has had. She has been slightly more efficient. Beason was mentioned for National Player of the Year, but Krause is our weakness, interesting . Let that sink in before making ridiculous comments of Krause’s lack of ability to get it done. Krause is a hell of a lot closer to Beason than Batenhorst is to Krause. Krause better than Batenhorst by 70-96 points each year. To lump Krause and Batenhorst as the same, that’s crazy.
