While pondering the Gophers situation, new coach coming in, backrow defense graduating, ... I remembered that Wenaas played DS position her frosh year, then was a 6-rotation LS attacker as a sophomore and this year a passing right side attacker. So she hasn't played libero, middle or setter. Which will she be trying next year?

Let’s see her as part of a “true” 6-2… she can be setter in the back row, and Mel can be the other-opposite when she’s in front.

She’s literally defended 5 different areas of the floor as a Gopher. Gotta love her ability to help out when and where she’s needed. Kilkelly has played all back row positions too.

I'm only a rank amateur at evaluating and judging VB performances from the angle of technique or strategy. However, I know what I see before me. After watching all 8 teams perform in the NCAA regional finals yesterday, it was amazing to witness the power, speed, and intensity/focus of every team through whole matches, not parts of matches. By contrast there was the Gophers' discouraging play v. OSU the day before. After leading 6-2 in set 2, MN's team essentially disappeared from the competition, though they went through the motions of performing to the end. Their hitting speed seemed to slacken, not increase. Despite MN's #8 ranking, there's no way they could have made an interesting match in the regional final (if they'd somehow gotten there) against any of the 8 finalists. I don't know if it's lack of talent or lack of motivation, but they weren't playing at the level anywhere near that of the elite eight, or showed any drive to rise to that level. The new coach's task must be to field a squad of intense, quick, hard-hitting, and aggressive-serving players who can pin their opponents to the back court and keep them there throughout a match.

McKenna just posted a new Instagram post. It’s a bit hard to read between the lines. I’m having such a hard time with this. It’s making me anxious! And Taylor landfairs comments don’t help!

I can't read tea leaves. I'm not concerned about the ending. There is nothing to suggest she means "on to the next team I play for." But I do find it curious that her teammates, other than Landfair, aren't joining the chorus of her supporters. I really, really, really hope McKenna stays. Not only a huge talent, but that all-out intensity that makes her so much fun to watch.

as far as I can tell, two comments from Taylor, one after the other. What they mean is beyond me. And I quote:
1. tuned outtttttt
2. Loving the order

Loving the order I wouldn’t read too much into it.. posting about being “roomies” with landfair next season at a new MN apartment complex only a few days ago is a lot more telling than this.

Reusse just tweeted that the Gophs are about to name their volleyball coach. No idea who.

This reads a lot like the journey Molly Haggerty went on with her back injury at Wisconsin. I wouldn't read much into it more than a stellar athlete being publicly vulnerable to the challenges she had surrounding an injury. I hope that she can bounce back from a tough season and keep getting better. She's amazing.
