Both UW and Pitt have contributed massively to medical research throughout their existence. Most notably:
In 1947, Pitt brought Dr. Jonas Salk to run their Virus Research Laboratory. Over the course of the next seven years, during which paralytic poliomyelitis killed and paralyzed millions of children, Salk strove to develop a novel vaccine, one that used killed virus to generate immunity without infecting the patient. He developed a new method to inactivate the virus in vaccines, a solution called formalin. Launched in 1955, Salk’s vaccine paved the way for the eventual near-eradication of polio.

The University of Wisconsin houses the Wisconsin National Primate Research Center, where in the 1990s, Dr. James Thompson successfully isolated and cultured primate pluripotent stem cells. Since then, stem cell research has advanced to human clinical trials for treating both age-related and juvenile macular degeneration, heart disease, blood and immune system cancers, skin wounds, hearing disorders, spinal cord injury, graft-versus-host disease and more.

Might be a bad match up for pitt tho. Elite blocking teams give them issues bc their pins can definitely get blocked a lot bc they hit low

After that display from Wisconsin tonight, I think Pitt takes it. Badgers were not good enough tonight. But I've learned that predicting match to match is pointless.

Quite simply, the badgers' passing has to improve. That was no good against PSU.

After that display from Wisconsin tonight, I think Pitt takes it. IDK...I just can't sell this tough bunch short anymore. Too many weapons for Pitt to deal with. PSU was a multi-alarm dumpster fire tonight, even if they managed to take the Badgers to five. And while I love this kid, it wasn't GG's night at all. Badgers will play up to the competition.

Badgers in 5 but that is where it ends.
Stanford and Louisville are the two best teams and I don't see where the Badgers defeat either of them.

After that display from Wisconsin tonight, I think Pitt takes it. Badgers were not good enough tonight. But I've learned that predicting match to match is pointless. This 100%. Few people saw USD sweeping Kentucky after the first 2 rounds. I think Badgers come back focused and take the W, though Pitt scares me. Historically Wisconsin has been a mixed bag this round at home, particularly against good teams: 1997 lost in a reverse sweep to Florida who was the #5 team in the country 2000 beat UCLA (a very physical team) 3-2 2016 lost in reverse sweet to a very physical #6 Stanford team 2019 swept an overmatched Nebraska team who they swept twice earlier in the year 2021 swept a #12 Minnesota team they beat twice earlier in the year. Based on historical precedent, I wouldn't be surprised if this extremely competitive. Pitt is physical and well coached. Should be a great game.
