Well unless we move a middle over, we're gonna need at least one OH transfer just to have enough depth. Only 3 rn.

I'm sure they'll glue her to Z's hip all season and teach her all 3 frontline spots. But my gut says Madden's right and they take a transfer. If not another Rollins then maybe another Franxman.

What do we think the chances of a 6-2 next year with Grome and Sarafa? Personally don’t love that rotation, but sarafa may be too good to keep on the bench next year. From everything I read she may be the best setter in this class, top 3 at worst.

I agree. I think the 6-2 is the best option next year in the sense that would be the best lineup where you are maximizing the most talent on the floor. Safara is too big of a recruit to sit on the bench for the next 2 years while Grome finishes out her last 2 seasons.
Tealer can easily make the shift to the right side to join Rutherford because she technically was a right side all year long. Goetzinger, Bultema & Williams would be the middles and maybe even Bell if she comes back.
The only issue that comes to mind with the 6-2 is that one of the outsides is going to have to play six rotations just because of the sub issue. I don’t think you are reasonably going to be able to sub 2 DS and 2 setters in. DeLeye or a portal player could probably do it and then use a DS for either Lamb or Melby.

Kentucky needs two Outside Hitters in the worst way. I don't care if it is one of the freshmen or a transfer but this team did not have a "Go To" Outside Hitter this season. There is zero percent chance they are playing a 6-2. Grome is an absolute stud and unless she gets injured she is the only Setter getting playing time. Wonder if Goetzinger sticks around. Most of all Kentucky has to improve their Defense. Inconsistent serve receive haunted them the entire season especially in the non SEC matches.

You don't run a 6-2 because of how good a setter is. Look at Nebraska. They had a 5th year senior returning this year who had started the previous 4 and decided to go with the 6-2 because of the arms they had offensively. UK is going to have the arms to run a 6-2 next year with the freshmen class coming in and the possible portal additions. Lamb will be fine once she gets more training as an OH. She came in as a MB and was hurt all of last off season. Grome is great but she's undersized and a lot of opposing OHs took advantage of her smaller block this year. She also struggled A LOT in the non-conf. Sarafa is the top rated freshman setter in the country coming in and I can assure you she's not going to ride the bench as Grome's backup for 2 years.

We shall see. At least we agree this team struggled against the better out of conference competition.
I see Carly Hendrickson is in the Portal. Pretty sure Kentucky recruited her pretty hard out of High School. In what little time she got to play for Florida this year she looked really good. Florida had some studs but for some reason Hendrickson just couldn't get on the floor. She has a hammer and I can't imagine she will be in the Portal for too long.

Very interesting. If I am not mistaken, Grome and Bultema played against her in HS and are from the same area. If they have a good friendship, that could be enticing as well. I think Hendrickson would be a great fit at UK.
I am intrigued if UK even has scholarships open for a portal addition. Someone may have to leave for a scholarship to open up. I would assume Tealer took some scholarship money to come back for her fifth year. Right now, the roster stands at 16 deep for next year and 17 if Bell chooses to come back.
Berezowitz won't be returning. In the game recap posted on UK athletics after San Diego, it said it was Berezowitz's last game of her career and the rest of the senior decisions will come at a later date. Bell is the only one with a decision to make because Tealer announced she's returning and Rollins and Franxman are out of eligibility.

It will be interesting to see who all, if anyone, decides to transfer out. With the Tealer news it wouldn’t shock me if one of Bell/Goetzinger/Williams decides to look elsewhere for playing time. Also don’t know what role Walker may have next year so she could be someone as well.
I’m sure skinner will have to have some hard conversations with a few players and go from there. If Kentucky wants to stay around with the elites they’re going to have to upgrade their roster and go after a big time transfer or two imo.

As somewhat expected Bella Bell moving on and using her grad year to play at another school. I wish her the best and think she’ll be a solid addition for another program. http://instagram.com/p/CmKdB_UJY4V

Masters in Wildlife? Sounds cool as hell.
Congrats to her, it's been fun watching her compete, glad she loved her time in blue. Any school would be lucky to have her for her last 2 years
