It will be interesting to see if she redshirts this year, which would give her three years to start at UK. With Kassie O'Brien coming in 2025, we may have that covered anyway. O'Brien is about as highly rated by multiple services as Sarafa. More worried about Mid if Goetzinger leaves after this year... would only leave Williams, still coming back from an achilles injury, and Bultema. I would bet anything Skinner is going to try his best to land a transfer MB. In general agree with you, need good depth at MB position to get through the entire season.

Pretty excited to see how the team looks. Don't live close enough to Lexington to stop by, but hopefully someone can provide insights on how they look and some lineups put out there.

Seemed like a solid performance by Kentucky going by the social media feed. Pretty surprised Sarafa is behind Jenkins for S2 though.

I don’t think this means Sarafa is behind Jenkins. I wouldn’t read too much into that yet.

lol I don't think "many" posters were predicting DeLeye to start as a 6-rotation player day 1. Hell, most non-UK fans have focused on Bultema way more than DeLeye.
But nah wouldn't read into that either because 1) true freshman have been on campus for like 5 minutes and 2) her shoulder was wrapped.
I will say if Rebo is playing 6 rotations I would be shocked to see DeLeye also playing 6 rotations. Whitworth is too good.

I really do hate posting these long messages but here goes.
I'm pretty happy overall! Wanna say we hit like .370? 8 or 9 blocks? I tried to take pics of the stats scoreboard throughout the game, but looking through my phone rn I definitely missed like 4 of the girls' final statlines and the final team stats got taken down before i could snap a pic, so just take these with a grain of salt.
I thought all our smalls played really well, passed well. Beavin is coming for the LotY she was snubbed last year, and I thought Whitworth played well at libero in 3&4. I feel very confident in all 4 of our DSs, definitely a strength of the team. In general we had some miscommunications that need to be ironed out, but felt like we made plays on D today we didn't make last year.
I thought Williams looked nice in sets 1&2, but Goetzinger came out on fire in 3&4. 10 kills, hit .529. Denting the floor. Didn't get any stuff blocks, but felt like she got a good amount of touches. Immediate impact. Bultema looked good! Still not sure she'll crack the rotation, but I love her arm and she had a handful of blocks. Huge potential.
Rutherford had a double-double and a pair of blocks, hit .320. She played 6-ro the whole time until about halfway through the 4th and Wilson played front row for her. 3 or 4 backrow attacks, don't remember any of them landing. Just one game, but I think her backrow D has really improved from last year.
At OH, Lamb had 10+ kills, hit >.300 iirc. Couple aces too. Wilson was looking pretty impressive until midway through set 2 where she had 3 pretty costly errors in a row. Ended up with 6 kills, hitting .154. And I'm a Brooklyn DeLeye fan. 10 kills, hit .625, and she's got some velocity on her jump serve. At one point she hit a WKU player in the chest with it and the whole crowd collectively went "ooooh" lol.
Passing from the pins was a weakness last year, and... it's still a work in progress. I thought all 4 had good and bad moments. Wish I had numbers there.
And I thought both Grome and Jenkins looked good! Much better than the spring. I was impressed with Jenkins. 27 assists in 2 sets. Also a few of you all will be happy to know Grome debuted a new jump serve and had 1 ace and 3 misses by about 40 feet lol. (Emma, if you're reading this I love you)

Oh and I forgot to say Melby was in street clothes, Dailey and Sarafa dressed but didn't get in. Everybody else played at least 2 sets
