Last I heard Goetzinger hadn’t made a decision yet. She was weighing a grad school option at UK but obviously you have to be accepted first. Haven’t heard anything since. Regardless if she stays or not, they are going to have to bring in at least one middle. Maybe two just for depth purposes.
Leah Edmond was singing Bultema’s praises last week. I think she’ll be very good for UK.

In order for Kentucky to get back to the elite level and compete for a national title they have to get better on defense. Passing and serve receive haunted the Wildcats when they played against better competition. It has been a glaring issue for the last couple seasons. Grome is a stud and can quarterback the offense but there is only so much she can do when the defense falls apart.
Deleye is a beast in the making. She has the talent to be an All American and "Go-To" Weapon. She clearly earned playing six rotations and I think we all know this is why Rutherford is leaving. To me Rutherford leaving is addition by subtraction. Skinner tried to make her a 6 rotation player and she was too inconsistent in that type of role. I am hopeful Skinner can find another arm to play Pin for this team.
Goetz possibly leaving hurts the depth but I think it is time to move on to the younger players. Kentucky is going to need to find a MB in the transfer portal for depth and then let them the players compete for playing time.
If UK can add a couple high level tranfer portal players they can get back to the elite level. Any time you have two studs like Grome and Deleye you just need to put a couple good pieces around them. But make no mistake, UK has to find a stud DS in the transfer portal.

Wouldn’t it be nice if kentucky could land Blackwell? One can certainly dream.

I’d agree, but I’d also say better defense needs to start with a more consistent block at the net. This should enable the littles to make better reads…in theory!

Call me a doubter but I don't think we'll go after a DS in the portal

Blocking is why I was excited for Williams to get solid playing time.

Call me a doubter but I don't think we'll go after a DS in the portal I doubt it either. With Beavin and Tuzzo, we are in good hands. Thigpen is supposed to be really good ad well. I wasn't as impressed with Whitworth this season. But a great one to have as well.

Agreed. I don’t think we go after a DS either. You don’t see many programs just go after a DS in the portal when you have an established libero. Tuzzo is 1B in terms or libero so I don’t think this would be an attractive spot in terms of DS.
Blackwell would be huge. I really like our chances of landing Sydney Nolan too. I would go after both. Throw them in with Bultema and that’s a very very solid middles group.
Maybe Benjamin gets moved to OPP for a year like he did with Skinner her freshman year???

I think Dailey could be really good on the RS. A lot of talent, just waiting to see.

Looks like Goetzinger isn't coming back for a fifth year per Hunter Mitchell on Twitter. Not sure what her plans are but looks like it won't be a fifth year at UK. This opens up some desperate MB options in the portal. They need at least two. One needs to be high level. I think Bultema is very capable but UK will need some experience at the other MB position.

Did not expect all this attrition this offseason. I feel like during the covid extra years, Kentucky has been one of the few top programs that hasn't gotten many 5th years to return (outside of Tealer) which hurts. Also wonder what happened Williams as she was in line to start next season.
But yeah, Craig really needs to hit the portal hard if he wants to put out another great team next year.

Makes me wonder, I just assumed Goetz was making a decision to come back causing Williams to look elsewhere.
