I’m a Big Mac (pun intended) fan obviously she is our top setter, but in our losses it’s been the same story, set Jess almost more than the rest of the team combined. After we went down 0-2, like in Louisville, I don’t know why we don’t run a 6-2. If we have Cam and Zoe on the right it will drastically improve our blocking and we don’t have to worry about the middles trying to run slides. Mac isn’t the best blocker and it gets exposed against the top teams. I’m not saying to run a 6-2 the entire season, but with the depth we have with Quinn and Ally on the best, why not let one of them set 3 rotations.
The top 4 teams we have played this year we have lost to, we are 2-12 in sets.

Yeah, we're still not good. Not even competitive against top teams.

Tough to win on the road. Especially in Lincoln. Penn State didn’t play well and still kept it close. They will get back in the gym and work on what’s needed.

Some coaches run their systems and want the team to adjust to their system and some coaches run the best system for their personnel. I do think a 6-2 might work well for this team but it would have to be an entire change not just something they pull out against top teams. It also is probably too late in the year. PSUs loses are to all top 10 teams (Florida with Stucky is top 10). PSU is a sweet 16 team that could pull off an upset. They definitely need to set the middle more. They really did not even try to establish it Vs Nebraska.

Wucherer to PSU next season to help out Mruzik. I’m calling it now 👀 . It’s not that other capable hitters aren’t there, the setter just needs to set them more.

Wucherer to PSU next season to help out Mruzik. I’m calling it now 👀 I disagree I don’t think they have another reliable terminating pin I do like the PSU middles While Jess does attack out of the back row, the vast majority of her sets are in the front row. So if you want someone to help ease her load, that would include setting other people while she is in the front row, and not another left side. Sure, that other left side could take some swings from the back row but again, Mac needs to set the middles and right side more often than she does. All other hitters have proven they can do it. No one is going to hit career numbers every match but one person getting 50% of the set distribution is not the answer. I think Markley is coming into her own, thought Stark should have been given some front row time in a few matches but they kept her to back row only. I truly believe they have the personnel to compete at a higher level, they are just too predictable with all those sets going to Jess.

Look at the PSU vs MN game, PSU pummeled us with their middles and Markley. I was perplexed why they didn't use those weapons vs Nebraska (which in the only other PSU game I've watched). I thought maybe Trammel was playing injured and Markley seems to be hit or miss?
PSU seems to have the weapons, just need to spread it out more.
