Complete embarrassment, even without Murray, Marquette should have won this.
WKUs outsides had 70 attacks and Foti didn’t even get a single block assist as the primary oppo.

Okay now that I’ve cooled off a little bit, actually thoughts/solutions I would like to see in match 2 against Drake.
Holmstrom as OH 2 and Hamilton on the RS

In my Defense, I’ve been saying that the entire offseason. The transfer portal isn't Amazon, you have to find not only the right fit for your culture and needs, but you have to have a scholarship available for the accurate amount of years and have to draw portal athletes that want to play in the Big East. It's not as easy as it may seem. 100% agree (I actually made a similar comment a few months ago)

A better effort in the evening match for Marquette. They then watched WKU get swept by Dayton. Tomorrow night is going to be interesting. 🤷🏾♂️

Theis deserves the benefit of the doubt for sure just because of how successful the program has been but there definitely were some head scratching decisions today.
Obviously hard to tell just on box score alone but Didn’t seem like he changed anything up besides benching Kushner. And Ifill looked very effective in her limited chances against Drake.

I think I read in an article that Foti was three assists shy of a triple double.

The way this announcer is pronouncing Anchante is driving me nuts.

Okay I’m gonna try my best not to be over the top negative so here are some Positives and negatives since we could actually watch the match for a change
Positives: Anchante is still great Back row defense is solid Service pressure is pretty good Hamilton seemed to be back to last years self Bray is really good, certainly improved from last year and she was pretty darn good last year.
Negatives: There is zero block, like absolutely none, not even deflections. A 5’8” OH had over 30 kills and hit over .300 Serve receive is bad, to the point where they can’t get their middles involved Reitsma and Foti…I mean, it’s already been said but their hitting percentage is a pretty accurate representation of their offensive ability. They start in ro 4 just to avoid Foti in the front row
I really Don’t want to continue to pile on them and I know it’s early in the season but I’m concerned for Marquette this year if they are the next best pins after Hamilton.

This is a tough one to unravel from the outside. Based on last year's Pablo ratings, Marquette was 'expected' to win 2.25 of the 3 matches. Going 2-1 isn't an abnormal result. Also - Western Kentucky has been a very solid team for a long time, Drake was actually good last season and may be the best team in the Missouri Valley this year, and Dayton has always been a good program that may have just had a down year last year.
But then - Marquette was outscored in 2 of the 3 matches and barely outscored Drake. This could have easily been much worse.
The next 5 matches are going to be really tough.

The next 5 matches are going to be really tough. Yep! Purdue, Kansas, Pitt, Tennessee, and Wisconsin. I admire that they are pushing themselves and not playing it safe. There’s going to be some bumps and bruises to be sure!

ROUGH weekend for the Golden Eagles. Hopefully they rebound and regroup. They still have some tough teams ahead.
