From Rich Kern's website, I went through and checked the various conferences to see how things were starting to shape up for the 2005 postseason. Some things are good for teams I like, some not so good, but what stands out the most to me now is how dominating the Big 12 has been! Granted, this is NOT an very precise way to look at the information, and all things are not equal for all conferences, but conference head-to-head matchups is a solid criteria fans can use to help base our opinions on which win is better for a team. 1 | Big 12 | 38-6 0.864 | | 2 | Southeastern | 37-6 0.860 | | 3 | Big Ten | 34-10 0.773 | | 4 | Pac-10 | 29-9 0.763 | | 5 | West Coast | 30-9 0.769 | | 6 | Conference USA | 39-17 0.696 | | 7 | Mid-American | 34-20 0.630 | | 8 | Western Athletic | 24-15 0.615 | | 9 | Big West | 27-17 0.614 | | 10 | Big East | 39-28 0.582 | | 11 | Atlantic Coast | 22-17 0.564 | | 12 | Sun Belt | 33-26 0.559 | | 13 | Atlantic 10 | 30-25 0.545 | | 14 | Mountain West | 19-19 0.500 | | 15 | Big Sky | 19-22 0.463 | | 16 | Colonial Athletic Association | 25-30 0.455 | | 17 | Southland | 19-25 0.432 | | 18 | Horizon League | 17-23 0.425 | | 19 | Missouri Valley | 21-30 0.412 | | 20 | Southern | 19-28 0.404 | | 21 | Patriot | 12-18 0.400 | | 22 | Ohio Valley | 20-33 0.377 | | 23 | America East | 11-22 0.333 | | 24 | Atlantic Sun | 16-33 0.327 | | 25 | Mid-Continent | 12-25 0.324 | | 26 | Big South | 11-23 0.324 | | 27 | Northeast | 8-18 0.308 | | 28 | Metro Atlantic Athletic | 10-30 0.250 | | 29 | Independents | 8-29 0.216 | | 30 | Mid-Eastern Athletic | 3-29 0.094 | | 31 | Southwestern Athletic | 1-25 0.038 | | 32 | Ivy league | ?? | ?? |

I supposed this happens in every league but I know that at least with some of the Big 12 teams, they are playing opponents WAAAAY below their level which boosts their win/loss record. Of course some top teams in other conferences have been doing that too so far so maybe it all sort of balances out ... at least with the top conferences. Of course this means teams in the SWAC, MEAC, and their ilk get stomped on pretty hard.

I just did that comparison myself but could you post this info every Monday until after the preseason is over? Interesting to see how the preseason shakes out.

I still can't believe Texas lost to ND, Kansas lost to BYU, and IowaState lost to StephenFAustin.
