Danielle Meyer is the one who got screwed this week. She put up unbelievable numbers against top notch competition.

Minn has a different system then Penn State and it allows Paula to have more chances for digs. Just cause you have higher numbers doesnt mean your better. My pick is Walters after watching the Stanford vs Psu match at Stanford. She dug Ogonna and took her out of her game. Stanford fans even said they had never seen somebody dig Ogonna like that. If Paula could have done the same maybe they would have won.

If Paula could have done the same maybe they would have won. You can stop the clock now. Three problems here: 1) You make it sound like Minnesota had this "system" and they plugged Paula into it and -- voila! -- digs galore. Minnesota's system -- if you want to call it that -- was designed for _Paula_. It's like saying Stanford or OSU's "system" is what made Ogonna and Stacey great. You have a great player and rule #1 of coaching is: How do I get the most out of her talent? 2) There is more to being a great libero than digs. Paula passes _at least_ 2/3 of the court, often more, and Minnesota scores a ton of their points on her serve (witness Monday's match). 3) You make this point about Minnesota's "system" and then you say Walters took Ogonna out of her game. What happened to PSU's "system"? Now, it's all Walters?

I give Mike Hebert alot of credit. I could never coach Gentil, she free lances and will go anywhere on the court the point takes her. Mike allows Paula to play to her strengths, i'm sure he has to bite his tongue a little, but I have to (even though I hate to) agree with Ruffda, the system is built around Gentil's strengths not the other way around. I'm sure when she is gone the will probably appear in a more organized system. As far as Walters goes, she is one of the toughest people I have ever been around. Loves to compete and has a very strong will. I think Gentil's serving may be the only thing that separates the two players. I disagree with Ruffda that the comments on Gentil's style of play are "cheapshots". Every post that mentioned her dramatics, praised her wildly. Nobody in these threads has taken anything away from Paula or not given her her "props" She is over the top, but so was Mohammed Ali, it's part of what makes her special, and yes a little tough to swallow at times.
