New Mexico State's Oguh Earns Player of the Week Honors

DENVER – New Mexico State’s Kim Oguh has been named the Western Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 5. This is the first WAC Player of the Week honor for the Aggies.
The El Paso, Texas, native had a total of 34 kills in three matches, hitting .386 with only seven errors. She also tallied 11 block assists during the week. Oguh was named 2005 Hilton Las Cruces Classic Tournament MVP, hammering 15 kills, had five block assists and three solo blocks in the Aggies’ 3-1 win over Cincinnati. She also had eight kills, hitting.615 in the Aggies’ 3-0 sweep of Texas-Pan American. Against the New Mexico Lobos on Aug. 29, she had 11 kills and three block assists.
Other nominees included: Boise State’s Telia Peterson had 11 kills, nine digs and one block against Wyoming. She had 15 kills, hit .143 (15-9-42), and added 14 digs and four blocks against Northern Colorado ... Fresno State’s Kasie Spencer had 21 kills in a, 3-1, victory over North Carolina, and hit .524 against Long Island at the USF Powerade/Asics Classic … Hawai‘i’s Kanoe Kamana`o averaged 14.50 assists per game, 3.00 digs per game and 1.00 blocks per game in the classic. She earned all-tournament team honors at the Hawaiian Airlines Wahine Volleyball Classic … Idaho’s Erin Curtis was selected to the LMU all-tournament team after leading the Vandals to a 2-1 record last week … Louisiana Tech’s Ambra Hayes had 47 kills in 12 games as the Lady Techsters won three matches … Nevada’s Carly Sorensen averaged 4.18 kills, and 4.41 points while hitting .252 in three mathces for the Pack in the Sands Regency/SBC Tournament. … San Jose State’s Colleen Burke had 33 kills in 12 games earning Falcon Invitational all-tournament honors.
