If the Italian Volley Fed allows it, Guidetti will coach the NT, hopefully dropping oXXo for good and having the ITALIAN version of Antropova, along with Omoruyi -aka a much better Sylla- Fahr and more youth. Vakif, instead, either completely resets and reconsider its turkish roster or loses everything. Better than that: I now save only GABI, OGBOGU, EGONU and possibly Bajema. GG better put the whole squad together, plan good transfers and spend coaching-time with Egonu: its now or never Omoruyi better than Sylla, I wouldn't say. Maybe he will become stronger than Sylla but at present he is inferior in offense and defense.
As for Antropova from her and her family not even a hint has ever come that she wants to play for the Italian national team. The CAS in Lausanne has to decide what her sport nationality is and if she (CAS) decides for the Italian nationality it only means that she could play as an Italian in the league. In order to play for the national team she would also have to have citizenship, and as far as I know, she only has Russian citizenship (she stayed too short in Iceland to also have Icelandic citizenship and I think that after 2014 dual citizenship is not even allowed in Russia). So Antropova only wants Italian citizenship to increase her market value. As a foreigner, in fact, one has to pay the home nation and there are fewer places available (and more competition). You don't read italian magazines/blogs: ALL Antropova wants is our citizenship, play as a fully italian athlete and get to be in the NT, where everything is changing. Mazzanti will go back to club-coaching and Guidetti will take over, hopefully with a mature Egonu and an extraordinary back-up such as Ekaterina, who plays as OH as well. NT is over for Mazzanti, O**o, Chirichella, Bosetti and now open to Guidetti, Fahr, Bosio, Mazzaro and more. As for Sylla/LOVETH, 7 years her junior, Omoruyi is improving her defending and attacking skills, she's taller and has a perfectly slender muscular structure: altogether, she's lighter than MS and has a better preparation to hitting (wonderful sideouts). Sylla is chaotic, L.O. Will soon replace her 👍🏽 |

Will soon replace her 👍🏽 All this enthusiasm for Antropova stemmed from an interpretation of a sentence the player said, quoting, "I would be honored to play on the Italian national team," and from this Pasini inferred that she want to play on the national team. The facts: since she came of age she has never applied for Italian citizenship (which she will have to apply for sooner or later if as you say she wants to play in the national team); the only thing she is fighting for is to have her FIRST sports nationality. If she gets it, until she applies for Italian citizenship the only national team she can play for is Russia (after a change of sport nationality, which for the FIVB can only be done once). I repeat: it makes no sense for Antropova to appeal to CAS if she does not want to keep both options. |

Random thought I had yesterday: There were 5 players in the starting lineup of this match who played for the other team. For Imoco: Kelsey, De Kruijf, Haak. For Vakifbank: Egonu, Chiaka.
With the exception of Chiaka, who I think has improved dramatically since her time at Conegliano, most of these players' level of play since their time on the opponent's team.
